Is this normal clutch behavior?

Hello all.

I was out for a drive the other day and decided to jump on the highway to open her up a little bit.

One thing I noticed right away is that when shifting fast, my clutch pedal does not lift up immediately when I lift my foot. Instead, the clutch pedal acts kind of like a sponge and comes up after about 0.5-1 second after I lift my foot off of it.

I can't recall if I read/watched something that indicated this was something Ford implemented to attempt to extend the life of the clutch?

Any insight would be amazing. TIA

i have also had this happen a couple of times under extremely fast shifting. like the peddle sticks and you feel it come up and slap your shoe sole. i wondered if maybe i had a fluid bubble, maybe cocked the peddle arm crooked and it stuck, or maybe it hooked the carpet. only once in a great while but always in extremely quick shifting. never gotten under the dash to inspect. maybe the master cylinder plunger bottoms out and sticks because it doesn't always travel full in? i'm curious if there are any others as well

Sounds like a return spring issue...🤔

I'm enclosing two threads on the topic of Clutch Delay Valves; they can help 1) smooth driveline shocks and 2) help prevent excessive clutch disc wear.

The referenced 7G thread provides some good detail, but I don't think anyone confirmed if a valve or metered fitting is there. From several posts, it reads like the valves are common in many performance cars with manuals.
