the first and only one I had done 11 months ago at 1000 miles was 89 dollars

Being a tech myself I asked if they put 10 quarts of oil in the crankcase, the service writer said yes and I checked it before driving away.

I can't buy 10 quarts of oil, a filter, pay disposal costs, shop supplies and pay myself more than 20 bucks at that price.

I have an appointment next month for its annual oil change, the car is in Florida now so I don't know what the bill is going to be, but a few years ago I had them do my 07 GT and put 2 bottles of limited slip whale snot in the rear end and it was under $40. I slipped the tech a 20 and told him to buy a 6 pack on me.

Where dealerships save on cost is if they are buying oil bulk, either in 55 gallon drums or they have a 500 gallon tank that a truck comes and fills.

I let my Ford dealer do it at their Quick Lane center, about $108 for full synthetic oil change and I can watch them do it. In and out in about 45 minutes.

$45 here. That's what it cost to ship Motorcraft oil and filters to my house. Less for the next three changes. Stocked up on oil after finding it on sale.

Got my first oil change today at the dealership not sure what they are gonna charge me but been reading online some costs upwards of $350+. Just curious, how much did you pay and was it dealership, third party (Jiffy Lube etc) or done by yourself.

Thanks
Southern California, at a Ford dealership, 10 quarts ford full synthetic for my 350, $255

I change oil by self. Cost: $105.

Oil: $55 (Full Synthetic, 5W30, 10 qts. / 9.5 litres)
Filter: $10 (Major brand, premium filter)
Oil Analysis: $40 (Blackstone)

Local dealer, comparable, $150, for 10 quarts, full synthetic with filter and checks. It's often $125 ford Synthetic Blend. Sometimes, they have sales. For vehicles needing as little as four or five quarts, the cheapest oil change is $75 or so.

When/if I can no longer DIY, I'll look out to any of the local speed or mechanics shops.

There are some good dealers out there. But you never know who you're going to get. One day, someone you can trust. The next, who knows. Local shops are often more personal, many having automotive enthusiasts working within.
