Yes I know they're different. Thats why I asked. 190 oil temp seems super low to me. Head temps around 195-205 are normal. Coolant temps between 195-and 220 are normal. Oil temps are usually the highest of the three.

For what's it worth. This is me after my trip home from work a little while ago. It's 114⁰ out, and I was diving spirited on the freeway and was just sitting at a light. Non-PP car. Note the air inlet temp.

I realize the track is different. And Id love to see someone post PP and non-PP track temps for comparison. But based on what I see in my own experience, there's a lot of room here before I'd be concerned.

...anyway. Sorry to derail the thread. I Say drill those inlet holes away. Probably doesn't do anything, but it can't hurt I guess.

114° - LOL. Wow.

Not fit for human habitation.

That air inlet temp on mine is on the next page, because I have another reading on that page that forces it down to the next page. My air inlet temperature is usually very close to whatever ambient temperature is on my dashboard for the weather outside.

I'll try to remember to snap a pic of mine after a drive, but it won't be on a 114° day . . . 🄵

I started this thread and it’s gone way off the original topic.
Why do many of these threads go south?

Yes.

There is at least one thread on this forum where someone has increased their air flow by opening up the vents. There is no way to accurately measure the increase in air flow by percentages.

There, that should end the thread.

I was wondering if anyone had increased intake air flow to the air cleaner with a dermal tool?
It seems like the front grill intake areas are restricted a lot.
It looks like it would be easy to increase your intake flow by 50%.

A pressure sensor will accurately tell you if the "mostly blocked off" grill is restricting air flow to the air boxes.

I've wondered the same thing myself.

Obviously Ford opened up the grill on some models. There is for sure at least one big reason why, or Ford wouldn't have done it.

All I see here is speculation rather than hard data.

But since there are two air boxes and two throttle bodies, whatever openings there are need to be thought of x2 with respect total air flow.

But again a pressure sensor will tell the story as to whether or not the blocked off grill is causing restriction.

Maybe it is blocked off to help keep road debris out of the air box and filters. They likely did the testing and this is the least open/max flow that worked. Plugging up the filter won't do any good for HP. Many people don't pay close attention to their air filters.

I can see it as an "aesthetic" and track oriented reasonings why they did it on the Dark Horse. On the track airflow can be blocked/changed depending on how close and where other cars are. This could be why they leave it open on the Dark Horse , so it can scavenge air flow better no matter track/cars position. This of course is simply my guesses , so don't take my opinion to the bank.

Ok, I have some issues this guys logic in the video.

First of all, there was no documented baseline before the final test drive. Hes making assumptions based on what he THINKS is happening, with no comparison to back it up.

Second, if cutting the holes is supposed to improve airflow and therefore reduce heat soak, how can you sit at idle and proclaim its working?

Thirdly, my temps drop just as quickly when the car starts moving. Based on his video I see no difference. Now I'm not saying what he did made no difference, but this guy is making a ton of assumptions.
