What, specifically, is it for then? There is nothing on the car that needs mileage to break in.
really? how about the differential, for one.
and maybe the gears in the trans. and brakes.
not saying you should baby it. just give everything time to "get friendly" :)

Off the top of my head...
Brakes
Transmission, both A10 and M6
Rear end

Probably a few other more subtle ones, but this is a start...
Not needed.
Vehicles have even been delivered to tracks for events and ran hard.

If the "Break-in" Procedures were so important and needed they would have been done before a customer gets the vehicle and/or noone would be allowed test drives.

The issue comes from staying at a steady RPM for an extended period of time before the rings have seated.
Ok that's fair. How long in your estimation does it ake for the rings to be seated? I mean if I pick my car up and drive it 30 miles on the highway hopefully that's not an issue? I can vary speeds and RPM's while doing so.

No manufacturer ever has recommended break in procedures and it's just for fun

I donā€™t see the harm in babying the car for 1000 miles before going WOT. You have the car for yearsā€¦ canā€™t wait for few days?

I put 800 miles in 3 daysā€¦. 200 to go!

Nobody said to baby it or not go WOT for 1000 miles, but the first couple of hundred you can slowly (and progressively) work up to it.

Keyword "Recommend".

It those with the experience and commonsense that understand how they should "break in" a new vehicle.
You can do what you want to, but to argue the fact just because it is copy and pasted in a manual doesn't mean it is "Required"!

IMO there is nothing wrong with you wanting to "work up to it". LOL
That is obviously what your experience has got you thinking. I don't see the need and my experience has proven so.

Absolutely none of those have any mileage based break in required, most don't have any break in at all.

Besides the screenshots from the manual, Fordā€™s Mustang reps answered the break in question for me while I was waiting for delivery of my order.

They also recommended varying the RPM as previously mentioned, not keeping it at one constant engine speed for extended periods. Those were my answers from the Mustang team , not from a dealer.

I kept RPMā€™s below 6,000 for 1st 1,000 miles. Changed oil at 1,097. Ford puts in a semi-synthetic at the factory, I changed to a full synthetic at the 1st oil change. I now have several black stripes on the driveway from testing the line lock, and testing various hole shot RPMā€™s. My drive is 1/4 mile long hmmmmm. I use my dealers QuickLane for oil changes. This way my dealer, my FordPass, and the factory have a record of my services, and should I have a warranty claim there is no dispute as to my service.
