Is the average higher than the average in june of ‘22. Why the panic, still got $1.18 to go before we exceed that high.
Sure. Why panic over $5 regular and $7 diesel? Especially when it was a direct result of foreign policy decision making from the administratiion that ran on lowing costs and no new wars. Affordability isnt a real thing anymore right? What's all the fuss?

A friend of mine just sent me his fuel surcharge sheet provided by his trash company. It is a variable expense % X his service $. He is paying around $118 a month for the service. The price has been creeping up near $220 a month total. He lives in a semi rural area. Not a 250 house neighborhood.

Crazy how no one was saying 47 years until after the fact as an excuse. Now we have to wait for a deal where one "regime" pays off the other for years to come. Maybe we'll get close to the same deal we had in place before some guy ripped it up due to this disdain for the people who set that deal. What a complete waste of time, resources and personnel... and we get to pay for it!!

Exactly. We've been told Iran has been 2 weeks away from a nuclear weapon for 40 damn years now. Plus their enrichment program was "totally destroyed" 8 months ago per our government. Its all an excuse for a poorly thought out plan. And now the whole world economy is paying for it. Even if the straight of Hormuz opens up and the wars ends in two weeks, it will take months if not more for supply chains to normalize. $5 gas is going to be the new norm through the summer at least.

Wait... is this @Gregs24 again using different accounts?

Really, looking back 47 years is not seeing the full picture. How the Shah came to power, grew more and more autocratic, abused his position and ultimately brought about the revolution of '78-'79 is significant. Iran was invaded in WW2, and afterwards tried to nationalize their oil distro. Some folks didn't take kindly and fomented a coup in 1953 installing the shah as the head of Iran. He ruled until the '79 ouster. Meddling in the affairs of foreign governments tends to have this result sooner or later. '79 is seen in some circles as 'blowback' from regime change meddling.

Anyway, after the hostage taking, I for one find it refreshing that the great satan is smacking down ayatollahs like whackamole, rather than shipping plane loads of money to bribe them and pay for their nuke icbms.

it sucks paying ~$5/gallon of gas, but it beats being an ayatollah about now.

My last fill up was $3.429 for 91 no ethanol. Not an average price for the area, but I like to check on prices when possible. I can remember times when things were much worse than they are now due to problems in the Middle East. Try being on I-44 in Missouri and not being able to find an open gas station because of fuel shortages. The reality is that we are in this situation because there are states and countries that refuse to allow drilling for oil, refining fuels and make things too ridiculous for businesses to be financially viable. For too long, they have imported essential supplies from areas that can be hostile to their needs.

For 47 years, every nation has tried to ignore the Iran threat and passed it onto the next generation to confront. Despite the Iran government claims that Iran is 99.7% Muslim, it is actually less than 30% Muslim. Knowing how the Iranian people have suffered under the IRGC thumb and how it threatens the entire Middle East stability, I can live with higher gas prices for a while.

When the price of an oil barrel is heavily influenced by social media posts of certain people and the volume of trades surges just before the post happens something smells fishy ...

To clarify and for perspective, the US, through the CIA, led efforts to make the '53 coup happen.
