They started tearing out Lights and replacing with round abouts here in SE Wisconsin about 15 years ago.
They require less maintenance (no lights) and tend to have far less fatal accidents than a std cross intersection.

For quite a long time people had no clue how to enter them properly and I would have to watch closely for idiots trying to enter into your path. A lot of drivers just not understanding the whole "yield to the traffic in the circle" concept.

15 years later and hundreds of them installed around me and I'd say people in our area are finally accustomed quite well to them. It does take time to familiarize the community with how they work. Of course when clueless out of state drivers visit , it can cause issues by them not being prepared. I find some people who don't understand them will just grip the wheel tight , hold their breath and will just enter regardless other traffic. Scary dumb..

I like them. Most often you can just fly right through without stopping.
We had a number of stop sign intersections here that had large backups in the mornings and afternoons that now flow pretty freely as roundabouts.

I lived in Europe for two years. Better drivers all around. More concern for others all around. More awareness of others around you when driving.

I am not going to keep to myself a clear and very significant observation out of fear of being labelled by you, however. It is almost always females. In fact, I cannot recall having an issue with a male driver in a roundabout, ever. In your mind, I would not be a "misogynist" if I simply pretended it was equally a problem being presented by males here in the US. Or, more likely, you hope by casting aspersions that I will simply be cowed into silence and not mention who is creating the problem, out of fear of being labelled by you.

Well, I have no such fear. It was a stupid label for you to throw in my direction.

My wife comes home complaining about a roundabout nearby sometimes, too. Her story is always about another female driver who does not comprehend how to drive in a roundabout. Is my wife a "misogynist," too?

Misogynist: "a person who hates or discriminates against women." Merriam Webster

What an utterly ridiculous accusation for you to make against me.

Is everybody in the UK and France so politically correct now that you have to pretend reality does not exist in your daily discussions? What an oppressive bunch of nonsense.
You reality may not be the actual reality of course.
