I am like all of you wishing ford would've come out with a forward camera for the S650. I have been figuring out how to solve this problem so as not tear up my front splitter.

I have found this little camera that is wireless which you use your iPhone for the screen. but with the CarPlay it would show up there. Seems pretty simple and low cost compared to a full blown install if anyone ever comes out with one that will work with the sync 4. Has an app you download and connect thru that. camera is small enough not to take away from the looks of the front end.

I have ordered it and will give it a try. let me know what you think and maybe someone else already done this. Here is the link to the camera.

As you can get it to blend into the grille and wire it cleanly it should be a good solution.

Hopefully you don’t have to disconnect from wireless CarPlay to connect to the camera though

I’m trying to think where you will power it from?

yeah that is the question. Has three wires, one ground, one hot and one comes on with ignition. Hot and ground is easy. Just have to search for the other. I’ve got appointment with my dealer tomorrow and am going to ask them best place.

Been running these cheap cams as backup cams on our SXSs for many years. How do you plan on triggering it on/off? We use a toggle switch. The you have to wait 10 seconds and connect via WiFi after opening the camera app on a tablet or phone. Which means disconnecting you phone from Sync. No a good solution for parking your car really.

You do. It uses WiFi by broadcasting it's own SSID (just like a WAP). You can only be connected to one at a time.

Not really think will be an inconvenience if only needed once in a while. Just open the app when pulling into a spot, use and close the app

I have that exact camera on my 2022 S550.

-I mounted it low and pretty hidden in the opening below the bumper and above the splitter.
-It is powered up when I start the car and is on all the time until I shut off the car. I pulled the on/off power in the power distribution fuse box under the hood. See attached image.

-Yes. It connects to an app on my phone via WiFi. So I have to disconnect my CarPlay WiFi (I have a wireless CarPlay WiFi adapter in my 550) to connect to the front camera. I use the camera when needed.
-It works fine, but…. The camera is almost too low where I have it mounted, but it does work. I’ve even recorded video driving on a mountain road, but it is best for seeing that which is immediately in front of and close to the car, like a curb or parking block.
-When I get my 2025 GT I don’t know if I’ll install one or not.

On a scale of 1-10, I give it a 4-5.

Not on my phone for some reason. I’ll try to remember when I go out later to take one.
