Ford offers Mustang GTD customers 'Extended Color Palette' program with exclusive lock-out option

Ford announced buyers of the GTD can option to spec it in any color they want and Ford will color match it to the best of their abilities.

On top of that Ford is also offering a clout chaser option to make any buyers custom color exclusive to their GTD for an additional upcharge.

Oh also the GTDs at Goodwood this weekend, slated to go up every day through Sunday.

For the GT40, a one-off color was, ummm, not cheap. This owner did get a killer color though.

Oh yeah definitely that place is local! Sadly I have never been yet since it isn't open to the public. Can only go when they have public events going on. It's definitely on my bucket list to go though!

Boy I wish they had a "clout chaser" paint option so I could get my GT in pearlescent baby pink, no I mean Gotta Have It Green Metallic.

Sadly/seriously, it would probably cost as much, if not more than the already available and expensive matte color option.

Optional question: Are metallic paints easier or more difficult to maintain than solid paints?

about the same to maintain if anything the metallic may hide some imperfections
but metallic is much harder to paint match hard to get the density of the sparkles just right

I did own this for about 8 months...... door ding was expensive to get repaired. The Ford paint shop eventually had to call up Galpin Auto that special panted this car to get the correct paint mix and proper way to lay it down. The dealership tried 3x and could not get it right. After talking to the painter that did the initial paint job (car started out black) they did a fantastic job of matching. But it was frustrating initially until they called Galpin.

Thats my sister's red GT Mustang next to it.
