Ford holding my vehicle due to BCM recall (25V546) for 2+ weeks even though they already have a fix?

Looks like the Appendix indicates that the BCM recall was not done.
Whats strange about this is that from what I read, a Gold Certified vehicle can't be certified as such if it has open recalls on it. Makes everything seem a lot more suspicious on the dealer end. Definitely going to be giving the manager a call tomorrow.

I know that everyone is trying to be helpful, but please remember that things like lemon laws, insurance, used car warranties and nearly everything else mentioned here varies by state!

I used to work at a car dealership, and they would not sell a car (new or used) with an outstanding recall. However, I bought my DH used out of OH and the recall was oustanding and they had no concerns selling me the car. If it was new, that would have been different.

That said, I think the OP does have a case against the selling dealer for misrepresenting the state of the car, but knowing how those guys operate, it's unlikely that he'll get a satisfactory response.

Mine was one of the lucky few that had it before the recall was even issued.

Mine was down for a month and a bit longer. Much of that time was a struggle just to find the leak (Ford hadn't issued guidance yet on how to diagnose this particular failure mode.)

Wouldn't shock me if BCMs were on backorder. Mine was kicked back onto the road after we had the confirmed fix but with the condemned BCM. I drove it while it was on borrowed time without issue.

I had no idea or didn't see any signs that there was any water intrusion or issues besides maybe my roof interior lights being finicky a day or two before I took it in but that's honestly a stretch at best.
BTW, this is the exact symptom that alerted me to a problem. Everything was fine except for the lights would (presumably) ground out somehow in the rain when they shouldn't as if a door was ajar and constantly burn while the car was otherwise in a state where the dome light should have stayed off.

Hello everyone! Wanted to provide an update regarding my situation. Ford just called me to inform me they are approving a buyback and will be giving me an offer around next Monday. I'm hoping everything goes well with the offer and I am already looking at replacement GTs ;). If anyone has done the buyback already, what should I expect?

Great news! I did a buyback once on a BMW, the dealer took care of everything (in that case, they bought back the car and sold me a new one at dealer cost).

Best of luck with the GT.

That's good news! But you had the car just over a month. They should give you what you paid for it.

You did your part, you paid for it, they have failed to deliver a safe car car.

Frankly they never should have sold the car while there was an active recall on it unfortunately in FL a used car can be sold with an open recall. But I would be calling Ford's customer bitch line and screaming that one of their dealers sold you a car with an open recall and it is sitting waiting for a fix.

Drive back to the dealer and tell them you want your money back right now.

Walk away from it

and yes that has every sign of water getting in the distribution box, so again RUN AWAY from that car.

Hey there, thank you for your input. I appreciate your thoughts but i think I have the most I can get at this point as I am already getting a buyback. As much as I would love to lay in to the dealer, I don’t know if it would make a difference at this point or if it’s worth the energy. If you or anyone else thinks I should or if they would give me anything I would happily still do it. Either way, I feel better knowing it’s going to be taken care of very soon and I can get a new vehicle.

Hopefully you are letting Ford know you are getting a new Mustang. That should grease the wheels.

But you should get every penny you spent back. I'm sure at the least Ford is not happy with the dealership.

Good luck!

I can tell you from first hand experience that Ford does not give two fucks about anything a dealer does on the service end, as long as they sell cars :(

Unfortunately, from what I have experienced, this is very true. When I told Ford about it, they were like well yeah there was no fix for it so it was ok to them somehow. Very questionable for a car that’s supposed to be CPO, inspected, and ended up actually having issues. What’s even weirder is that the second recall regarding the actual in car screens if I’m not mistaken already had a fix (software update) and they didn’t do that one. Very strange.

Good catch. I didn't really notice this until you brought it up, its definitely questionable but at the same time it was "inspected" for the CPO and had a clean title/carfax and no further signs of water damage. However, I may have to do some more digging here. Thank you for mentioning this.
Sadly, CPO vehicles really don't mean a whole heck of a lot these days. Dealers are terrible about inspecting vehicles. In many cases they don't even do a good job on a brand new vehicle prep for customer pick up. Mine included

Hello there. I’m just reaching out because I’m curious if anyone has been in my situation like mine. I recently purchased a Ford Gold Certified 2024 Ford Mustang eco boost with only 13,002 miles on it on October 1st, 2025. It’s a great car but now with the recall I’m one of the unlucky few to actually have water damage on the BCM module. I knew about the recall before purchasing the vehicle but had no idea about water intrusion/damage. Wanting to avoid any potential issues, I took it in to a dealer on October 20th for inspection and to complete the fix. I was quickly informed later on in the day that the vehicle had water intrusion and the BCM was showing water damage. I could not drive it at all until it was fixed and I was given a loaner (ford escape).

They told me they could not make any fixes without fords approval. It has been 18 days since and there’s no fix from ford in sight and I have been in a loaner vehicle ever since. The dealer has told me there was nothing they could do without Ford’s approval first since it was a recall. I also confirmed with other dealers in my area that they are in the same position as well and nothing can be done until Ford says so. I have been in contact with corporate and they are pretty much telling me the same thing and not giving me any answers.

The main thing that confuses me is that within the official letter to dealers and NHTSA recall letter it already outlines what needs to be done for it be fixed but then it says a fix for “effected” vehicles is not available yet and will be in the “4th quarter of 2025”. This could also easily be next year and result in multiple months out of my Mustang when I had only driven it for less than 20 days and 300 miles.

I have been considering a lemon law scenario if I don’t get any progress within the next 15-30 days which is covered by my state (Florida) for CPO vehicles with an active warranty. I have also considered a buyback process in the event the fix takes way longer to be released. Has anyone else had their Mustang held by Ford for this recall? This whole thing just seems like a mess by Ford and makes no sense to me.

A side note: Am I the first confirmed mustang to have confirmed BCM module water damage? Just asking out of curiosity.

I also provided some photos below for your reference.

There is a specific Line (Page) where it says to spray a specific area and check if thé water is from top or bottom. If it's leaking bottom apply TSb fix if it's top remove Windshield and reseal.
