It will probably continue based on the price increases for the 2025 models, but there's likely a correlation between the amount of complaining on here and the Mustang having its worst year of sales last year. Maybe Ford should take note.

Raise the price so they can keep making it or no Mustang. Only two options.

If the criticism is warranted that's fine, but if someone's pricing out a Corvette that's going to be $200k-300k after markups, they're not in the market for a $45k s650. It's just a post from someone who is never going to buy the s650 just to complain.

I think the issue is that the price creep means that you can price a GT--not even a Dark Horse--into base C8 price levels, which hasn't really been possible in the past. Part of that is just the fact that there are more options now than there have been in the past, but part of it is also Ford raising the prices higher and higher and also taking things out of packages and making you pay separately which results in a higher price. A fully loaded 2025 GT can be over $70,000 while a base C8 is $69,995 including destination. Different cars for sure, but that's a turn off for a lot of people. Back when I got my S550 in 2015, my fully loaded GT was--IIRC--$41,000 while a base Corvette at the time started at $57,820.


EDIT: I just ran these prices through an inflation calculator out of curiosity, and here are the results:

My loaded 2015 Mustang GT which cost roughly $41,000--that's $54,575.04 today.

2015 Corvette base price $57,290--that's $76,964.12 today. Technically, the base C8 is cheaper now than in 2015 accounting for inflation.

Of course when you add every option there is it can creep up into c8 levels. But a base GT is $45k and a base c8 is about $70k I think. $25k is a huge difference when the car is only $45k. I'm sure if Ford could make more money selling them cheaper but more volume they would. But that didn't work for the other makers either.

Edit: also, a 24/25 fully loaded gt is more fully loaded than it was in 2015.

I guess they could take options away so people can't say "a fully loaded gt creeps into the c8 base's price" lol

This definitely due diligence, some don't even know what they are looking at. Someone says something, paint is shit! The rabbit hole, full of people that have no idea. The paint on mine is pretty good. Perfect? No. I see it every day, also a lot of people don't take care of there vehicle then blame it on the manufacturer.

Well not sure anyone will like this but, if things keep going financially like they have, the Mustang and all its variants will soon disappear. It seem to be the only car Ford makes anymore, pumping the money into SUVs and trucks. Just like all the other Big 3 domestic manufacturers.
Funny how all the big ticket companies like BMW and Mercedes Benz and a few of the Asian imports still make autos that sell here. Perhaps they know something that Ford and Chevy don't know, or don't want to know. Same kind of thing that the US thought in October 1941, everything was ok until.......... 12/7/41

You think older cars were built better? I would have to disagree. Electronics aside, they were not built the same! I spent many hours chasing warranty issues. American vehicles were crap compared to JDM vehicles. They are all the same now.

I have never had any issues at all with my Bullitt. Runs like champ with no issues other than the shitty roads in California and all the rocks kicked up by the trucks. I am on my 3rd windshield.

I'm talking early 2000s just take seam sealer for an example. It's a catalyzed product now. It was terrible in the older cars.

Please learn to use some inflation adjustment calculator and consider all the new technologies included in the car compared to 8 years before.

don’t compare old MSRP vs new MSRP, I don’t know what BS comparison is that.

options make a ton of difference, compare base prices, optioned GT vs base corvette comparison is total BS, I can add options to corvette z06 and bring it closer to porsche doesn’t mean suddenly my c8 is competing is porsche

instead compare the average price of all of the cars, and you will see very little has changed (maybe slightly pricer)

They have priced them like European sports cars.....but without the higher quality materials - outside of the Coyote - there is nothing high end on these cars compared to the M4s/ RS5 exc..

Maybe I'm crazy but I actually have more fun driving the Dark Horse than my previous G80 M3.
Its not only the Coyote, its just a very well balanced car and surprisingly has nothing to envy the M4 regarding driving dynamics. Suspensions, brakes and tremec feel better than the "german scalpel". Interior luxury and overall design detail the M4 has it but its not necessarily better. The Dark Horse feels more raw and visceral but still precise and refined.
I dont feel like I downgraded, quite the opposite to be honest.

@wolf32v ..... you may be right but the GTD has nothing to do with your topic as Ford never intended the GTD for "regular" customers. It is am elite car just like many others on the market and ford could probably sell twice that number.

I wanted an American V8 Manual Convertible and my lifestyle won't change because it's a few or 10 grand more than I wish it was. I'd say Ford has me pretty much figured out.

@Upacurb ....the trouble is that when you own an RS5 or an M3S or an Audi 8 you own a "slick" sports car that is just that -"slick". I could have bought any of those but I wanted another Mustang because when you are at a red light or better yet leaving one who the h3ll looks at one of those "slick" euro cars ...... very few - as soon as they hear that Mustang sound everyone forgets about alacantara headliners and burlwood dashes because a REAL car is present.
