I ordered a matte screen protector from Ancor Room for finger prints and glare. When I went to clean the screen and install it, I noticed what looks like some kind of protector is already on there. Does anyone else have this? Apologies for the picture. It's really hard to see on camera.

Yes there is some kind of protector on the screen. In some of the other threads is was discussed and noted it would scratch. You did the right thing ordering a protector as if that one gets scratched you could simply replace it.

Thanks. I wasn't expecting anything to be on there, and it caught me a little off guard.

Do you know if it can be easily removed? Not sure if I should leave it alone or go ahead and try to replace it. It doesn't seem to do anything for fingerprints or glare. 🤦‍♂️

How was the install on the screen protector. Any tips? My first s650 got a lot of micro scratches over the course of a few months. I used quality products for cleaning and took it easy during use. Good call.

I haven't put the new on yet.

I haven't heard of anyone removing it. I just placed mine over it. The install went what I would considered good being in AZ dusty environment. I had one small spec down near the bottom that you can only see with a high intensity flashlight.

I was wondering what was on the inside screen. What's recommended to clean it?

The dust particle was from my install and I couldn't see it when driving.

Good to know. I wasn't sure if it would go over the top and compromise the touch sensitivity.

Apparently a very cheap factory screen protector.

There DOES appear to be a factory screen protector on there. For MY2024 it was like OP pic, slightly smaller than the screen itself, so you can see the raised edge on the screen surface. For MY2025, the factory screen protector is actually slightly bigger than the screen and extends beyond the screen edge itself. I noticed this because flecks of dust get under that extended edge.

The factory screen protector surface does indeed get scratched--not immediately from daily use, but after a couple weeks, and after washing (perhaps due to tiny sand/dirt particles carried into the cabin that then get wiped across the screen when you clean it). There is no way to avoid this. The scratches aren't that bad, and I remember seeing them on 2024 Mustangs I rented as well (those had more careless use from many people).

What I did on my new 2025 Mustang is I left the factory "UP" shipping screen protectors on. But you can actually remove the "UP" sticker layer itself since it is intentionally made as a separate additional layer on top of the shipping screen protectors. I cut the extended tabs with scissors in a triangular corner cut so that they don't get caught on stuff and flicked up. Not perfect, but good enough.

I'm an extreme nit-picky perfectionist and even I'm not sure if it's worth bothering with screen protectors at all. The screen (actually the 'factory screen protector' as described in the first 2 paragraphs) will accumulate some scratches and that's fine. It's still clear and legible, and by the end of a typical 3-10 year ownership experience, not likely an issue at all. Dealers and Carvana/Carmax won't give us more on our trade-in value because the screen is pristine.

I had a 24 base gt, I opted for no screen protector. I cleaned appropriately and was conscious not to scratch during usage. I developed micro scratching within 6 months. It was only noticeable when direct sunlight would reflect. I am picking up my 25 premium tomorrow and will be putting on a screen protector for sure.
