yeah... until they do. I just had service done on my Raptor - I carry 2 spares in the bed and have them in rotation, so when I picked up there was some kind of oil ALL OVER right bed tire, which came from left front. under the truck - oil --everywhere--. Oh $hit.Mine hasn't needed an oil change yet, but when it does I won't worry. Maybe the dealer guy will, but not me!
turns out the tech spilt oil on the change. A lot. I had them clean it up a bit and was underway. Things happen.
Not so funny story about the Rap. Thereās full underbody shielding, with an access door to the oil pan drain. Out of the blue, one Friday Iām on my way to the range and notice wet spots under my truck. At first I thought it must have been raini^^^ wait, this is Texas. Water doesnāt come from the sky here. I crawl under and itās oil. LOTS of oil. Iād already pre-started it so I shut it down, hit it with a flashlight but canāt spot an obvious leak. But this is easily somewhere between 1/4 - 1/2 quart. Itās a LOT.
How do I know itās a lot? Iām glad you asked; because it was leaking ALL OVER MY BRAND NEW GARAGE CONCRETE!!!!!
I call the locals and get a tow. After that sinking feeling, I soothe myself with the knowledge- F*** it, ESP will cover it.
Monday, dealer calls - ācan you explain a little about how you noticed the oilā So I read him in, and they take her into the shop. Later in the afternoon they call back - āwe canāt find a leak anywhere, did you run over any oil?ā
<sinking feeling of dread> āI donāt think so ... Let me check on something Joshā. I walk out to the street, down a bit to my neighbor across the street and what do I find?
An Exxon Valdez sized oil slick running across my street where my neighbor had thrown out his oil change oil from his diesel GMC. Trash truck grabbed it, crushed the garbage and blew oil all over the street. Wifeās car got hit too.
So the truck is completely healthy the whole time, other than needing a thorough wash!
His wife made him buy me a bottle of barrel proof bourbon to make amends.
