Do Mustang owners wave at each other in the US?

Sounds good to me!! Rev back at them, them cars can communicate! Horses do grunt at the challenge in the races as well! Lol!
I know I will probably get some slack for this, but I am scared if I rev my engine I will run into someone. Please forgive my ignorance. Do you have to put the car in neutral?

Only for stick, press the clutch to disengage and rev the engine! For automatic, just wave them cuz I don’t want to tell you to put it in neutral and rev then put it back in drive! You might put it in Reverse by accident during that! Not worth it for automatic, for safety sake!

In this example, it's healthy to have a genuine concern of the effects. Those that do have accidents don't think far enough ahead to imagine what happens when gunning the throttle while in gear. Unexpected power, cold tires, drivers overreacting to loud noises or quick movements. It often ends badly. Better to wave while exiting. Not as exciting, but it's a good close, with everyone and every car remaining available for the next time.

I blame my age for thinking that far ahead. I’ll continue my wave. I wave at ALL mustangs.

I thought that was only for Mustangs leaving car shows. šŸ˜‰
Back in 1988, I entered a freshly restored 1966 Mustang in a North Texas Mustang Club show. A man parked his mid-70s big bumper Camaro in the spectators portion of the parking lot, walked around the show and upon leaving, decided to show off a bit. He proceeded to spin the tires as he exited the parking area left onto the main road, lost control and hit a pole on the opposite side of the street. I kinda saw it out of the corner of my eye, but all of the Mustang owners looked up when they heard the crash. There was a brief pause to make sure he was OK, but as he opened his car door, everyone erupted into applause. Poor guy. Not much could be more embarrassing than to have 100+ Mustang owners watch you crash your Camaro. (Just don't do it. Besides the risk of an embarrasing crash, that kind of thing HAS gotten us kicked out of preferred venues before.)

Back to the wave. Driving "classic" Mustangs, I occasionally got a wave. None so far while in this S650, but then neither have I initiated one. It seems like there's sort of too many late model Mustangs. At least the s550 has been around for 10 years so there's a lot of them. Or maybe being in an Ecoboost, they figure I'm not an enthusiast. The Corvette, yes, more frequently, not so much C7 and 8 drivers, but older generations. Then again, my Corvette is a 69 model and I fit the grey bearded demographic usually on my way to or from a car show.

Another amusing wave story tho. Back in the mid-1980s, as a teenager I had a 1980 Mercury Capri and in my city, there were a couple of ASC McLaren Capri Converibles, both driven by very attractive women probably in their early 40s. Gift from their husbands presumably. Every time I would see one of them, I would wave. But one would just scowl at me and the other pretend not to see me. I guess they must've thought I was just a pretensious college boy trying to make a pass at them or something. No awareness at all that they were driving basically the same kind of car as I was. Probably to them, they weren't driving a Capri or a McLaren or anything special, just a convertible. (an ASC McLaren Capri Convertible is still high on my wish list).

Yeah that’s the rub, and then considering today’s social climate it’s hit or miss, just be aware if you decide to make it a habit for each super snooper trooper mustang you see.

We used to have a huge Cars & Coffee at a mall about 1 mile from our house. Easily 500-600 cars. If you didn't get there an hour before it started, you couldn't get a spot. It lasted two summers before they cancelled it. Too many people doing burnouts and driving like idiots. Someone always has to ruin a good thing.

Not sure about Mustangs, but certain groups do it, and I could see eventually Mustang owners becoming one full time. It probably has to do more with the driver behind the wheel of each Stang moreso than the community as a whole.

I know most Jeep guys do it, and as a previous owner of a 1st gen 12 valve Cummins I can tell you almost EVERY single other 1st gen I passed in the ole girl snagged me a wave. One old timer actually was waving so enthusiastically I thought he might've been having a jammer!

A phenomenon I have noticed lately is that while in my Mustang every other Mustang driver I see waves at me as they pass. This is my fourth Mustang and I don’t ever remember this happening any time in the past.
Is this new?

It’s normal to wave when on my Honda Goldwing but in the Mustang!!!
I think we're all happy to be a part of the Mustang community! :)

We need like a gentleman's car meet organization where it's just a bunch of chill people who love cars. With a zero tolerance policy for the macho BS. No fighting, throwing punches, doing burnouts and street racing. None of the toxic shit. You break the rules, you're kicked out and your car is put on an exclusion list or something. You show up again and people call the cops to have you removed.
