Perhaps we're thinking of the wrong kind of escorts here, and he really means this:

A lot of hardcore "gen 1 mustang = only reel Mustang" purists who hate the foxbody say it looks like a big escort and I suppose they're onto something. I always thought the "blunder from down under" Pontiac GTO looked like a big, rwd Cavalier but it was still a powerhouse.

I think, honestly, if I was going to spend somewhat big money, I'd get a 2013 Boss 302 with low miles rather than a new Mustang. Pretty bullet-proof cars with a real collectible pedigree. I pretty much hate the screens in the new Mustang and the styling is just OK but I love the 13-14 body style.
I actually considered a Boss 302 before buying my S650, but if that's how you feel why are you even in this forum?

If you are old school you will not e happy with a S650. The dash will drive you crazy. Buy a low mile S550 and save some money.
People in this forum interested in the S650 know about the screens. You can probably have a nice feel good conversation griping about them on Mustang6g, though.

IMHO, mods have no return on the dollar.
People do mods because it's part of enjoying the car, not for resale value. Quality mods like catback exhausts and nice aftermarket wheels can easily be removed and sold separately.

I turn 50 this year
You're way too young to be old school, lol. If I can muddle my way through the new tech at age 65 you ought to have it mastered in no time. :)

I lived in WPB for 15 yrs so I know what you are going through with an older car. The sun and corrosion from living near the ocean is hard on everything. One thing that really works better than any other type penetrating oil is Aero Kroil. We use it in the aviation industry and it is amazing stuff.

TY. Some of those Bosses are going for close to 13-14 GT500 monies or more. Yes I agree; it was the last gen with hard, distinctive lines that differentiated it from anything else on the road.
