So from what I see right now we have three options.
One is 3.15
One is 3.55 with no PP package
One is 3.55 with PP

So the question is, whtat is the difference between the 3.55 with and w/o PP package? Are they the same?

And, anyone has photos of the two? I would like to know how to identify them physically under the car.

The PP 3.55 carrier is cast iron and according to the picture of one on feebay, still painted black,

The optional 3.55 gear carrier for the A10 is aluminum.

The PP carrier with 3.73's is also Iron and painted black.

I know what the door sticker can tell. That was not the question.
Have a good day.
OK I only answered half your question and not very well

If it is a PP car it should have the Torsen 3.55

But there are a lot of GT non PP cars where people have paid the premium for the Torsen type limited slip

Since the center sections/ Carriers/Pumpkins are physically the same, unless there is a tag on the diff cover ( mine has the part tag with a bar code on it, I don't know what it information it has on it) the easiest way to tell what the car came with for an axle ratio and type of limited slip (if any) is to read the information label on the B pillar, or look at the window sticker if you have it, or if you know a Ford parts guy ask them to look at the historical build sheet for that vehicle by VIN

As for the differences in how they function and the benefits or drawbacks of each, this seems to explain it pretty well.

I have 3.73 in my '25 DH.
Which makes the above information even more ‘interesting’, since it also includes the ‘drift’ brake by default.

What about the axle cooler? The lines running between the axle and cooler will have some sort of bung or fitting on the axle. Do all of the axles get these or just the PP and Dark Horse?

You also need a new carrier (in description of item you posted)... either a clutch type or torsen type as preferred.
Imagine that, right there before my eyes. Thanks again!!!

the 3.55 diff without the performance package is a clutch pack type limited slip diff, where too much slip will cause the clutches to lock up and move the whole diff.

the 3.55 diff with the performance package is a Torsen helical gear type limited slip diff, where if one wheel is slipping, the amount of torque going to the slipping wheel is multiplied (usually) by anywhere from 3 to 4 (depending on the gears inside the diff) and sent to the wheel that actually has traction.

as for telling them apart visually, i don't believe there are any real indicators based purely on the outer casing itself. the only way to truly know what is what is to take off or otherwise peek inside the differential cover. the clutch pack type will have visible spider gears, where the helical gear type will have a metal cylinder that contains the gears
May I ask where did you get that information from inside of those differentials?

Only the DH has the diff cooler.

Not sure what your question is, But here's what the Traction Loc LSD looks like and the Ford TORSEN

LSD with maintenance access to the Spider gears and clutches .

Ford Torsen, No serviceable internals so no maintenance access hole.

The Diff will have a tag on it. If it has an L it's a limited slip and if it has a S it's Torsen. Only PP and DH came with torsen. In those, auto had 3.55 and manual had 3.73 gears.

Road racing guys recommend the torsen as it makes the rear of the car more controllable especially coming out of corners. But they are not preferred for drag racing.

Is there a listing somewhere of all the axle codes for the 24-26 Mustangs as shown on he door tags? I did a search here and the on the web and didn't find a list.

Mine has a regular non-PP 3.55 LSD and shows a code of "DT".

Looks like the factory installed gears are:

3.15 LSD
3.55 LSD - Code "DT"
3.73 LSD
3.55 Torsen (PP/DH)
3.73 Torsen (PP/DH)

Did I miss any? Thanks!

It's on the window sticker.

It's on the window sticker.
The window sticker lists the gear as an option with a cost but no actual code for the axle. Looking for the different factory codes on the door jam stickers for each of the installed axles.
