HI
I wonder if even the manual Dark Horse will come with the dreadful, unwanted auto start/stop system.
Does anyone know if it (will) affect only the auto trans?
Tks a lot

I have a 2024 Auto, no start/stop functionality.

Can you explain further why it's dreadful and unwanted?

I feel it makes not much sense in terms of saving gas ($) for a car with 500Hp,
and I do not feel comfortable with the engine shutting off at every red light or stop.
I have a Suzuki which has it and I always forget to turn it off when moving the car.
If they would have installed that device allowing me to turn it on - at my pleasure -
it would feel more comfortable with it.

Isn't there a button to disable it on cars equipped with it, at your pleasure? You can also (for previous MY's) buy a harness to permanently disable it should you so wish, if your car has it.

Why does the engine shutting off make you uncomfortable? are you concerned it won't restart? It could just as easily die while driving, or when you go to start it normally. The ECU will wait until the engine sees oil pressure before firing the injectors, and the starter is beefed up to handle the additional duty cycle. Also the car is far more likely to be rendered undriveable with a botched software update with how things are going these days.

There's been advancements in the technology. It saving you maybe a dollar each fill-up, and the net fuel consumption savings across all mustangs (and cars in general) is beneficial for you and everyone else.

I do not believe any DH has the AS/S, regardless of which transmission it has.

People who think S/S is great good for them. As for me If I wanted to save gas I would not have bought a performance car that will surely see some spirited driving. My P/P GT has no S/S and if it did it would be shut off before my seatbelt was fastened.😜

Is more fuel used during ‘startup’ or at idle?

I used to have a Mercedes that had this feature. Honestly; I never noticed the difference in fuel savings however it could be a placebo affect to keep Greta at bay.

Well it’s supposed to be at idle. There have been numerous studies done over the years about fuel usage when cars are idling even for a short time.
By chance do they share the params or just their results. Wouldn’t idling at 1k (while enjoying the ac since the planet is getting warm) use less fuel than a 5k burst at 30 second intervals? While i concur ‘standing’ (idling for prolong periods) will use more fuel but the amount of ‘shutdown’ time as a result of alway start started shutting down the engine is negligible (read close to the same as strictly adhering to the speed limit) for the majority of instances.

Idle injector rate vs startup rate?

Honestly I doubt anyone would really notice a difference. ASS is not done for us. It’s done to help meet an overall corporate number for fuel economy. Do we really think a manufacturer would add this cost if there wasn’t a mandate todo so?
