Catch Can or delete PCV

A Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve isn't a catch can. It is intended to pull exhaust gasses out of the crank case. A catch can is intended to remove oil that might be in those gasses.

I know what it does. Was responding to your last comment of "Otherwise it probably doesn't make much difference."
Since you commented on both PVC and Catch Cans that last statement is not factual.

Anyone replace their PCV valve or removed it? If so how do you get it out? There is a locking collar over it that will not allow you just to twist it out. TIA
