Catch Can or delete PCV

If I’m not mistaken, if you remove the PCV system and vent to atmosphere you will get a check engine light and some emissions codes.

I don’t know about physical damage, but the light would drive me nuts.

A Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve isn't a catch can. It is intended to pull exhaust gasses out of the crank case. A catch can is intended to remove oil that might be in those gasses.
I know what it does. Was responding to your last comment of "Otherwise it probably doesn't make much difference."
Since you commented on both PVC and Catch Cans that last statement is not factual.
