CarPlay Navigation disappears from dash

My navigation only works intermittently on the dash. It appears in CarPlay, but will disappear for no reason from the area just above the gear indicator for the automatic transmission. This occurs on both my wife’s phone and mine and when we are using Apple Maps for Google maps. Any suggestions?

I’m having trouble understanding your issue. My car is a premium and the CarPlay comes up on my center screen right away, with the navigation map popping up. The only thing I get in that area above the gear indicator is distances to a turn when I am using a route in navigation.

does the ‘speedometer’ display nav direction hint appear with any nav system in use or only the built-in (ford) nav?

I actually never look at that info above the gears as the info is large on the center screen and the voice info is very good. I’m going to be driving on a trip the next week so I’ll try and take note of what I see there.

First of all, clean that screen. Jesus.

Sounds like an Apple problem. Have you tried using the factory navigation to duplicate the problem?

I don't use it either. In fact I had the car for awhile before I even noticed it.

If its not apple its probably the navigation app being used. That's why I suggested using another app. I exclusively use Waze and I have never had a connection issue.

I do have to point out that navigation directions on the dash only show up when you program a destination with an app.

This is how mine works too. Make sure there is something that SHOULD be showing on the center display first? If it is.. maybe remove and then re-add your phone and rest the CarPlay setup.

On my '25 Escape, sometimes the Apple Car Play will not display at all. Usually it's because i'm moving and at other times I have to shut my phone off, then reboot it. That has happened if I'm using Car Play for navigation and stop for fuel or a rest break. Then I have to reboot the phone to get Apple Car Play to come up at all.
