There is a reason in Aviation databases are valid for about 3 months

And that reason has nothing to do with maps for automobile drivers.

The database on my 16 Toyota was on a SD card, several hundred dollars to replace and the data was a year out of date from the time they made the cards.

I'm not saying automotive GPS is perfect, it is like a code scanner it gives you information, it is up to you to verify its accuracy before use.

The recently reconfigured I 90 / I 495 intersection in MA has moved the ramps, you stay left as your GPS says and you are not going where you want to

All this is completely consistent with the point I made: "The vast majority of roads shown in any map set do not change from year to year." But there are users who get unnerved if they can find a handful of deviations between the facts on the ground and a database that's several years old. As I noted, these are the people who definitely should use a real-time system such as Google Maps. This doesn't mean that a car's installed navigation system has no value for anyone else.
