In reading the user manual, it looks like the "Connected Navigation" (car GPS) is NOT free. On page 425, it looks like it's either a 90 day or possibly 3-year trial and then after that you must signup to use it. If that is the case, that stinks.
Is this the case?

Yes, that is the case.

If it's like my F150, you can still enter a destination and get routed there, but you'll miss all the traffic , rerouting, and other overlay stuff. I've used Waze and Android Auto for many, many years. Far better to me, as it's 100% up to date all the time (maps) and user reported traffic, cops, crashes, etc.. is spot on.

I'm still on the trial for the Mustang, so no price listed. But if I go into the FordPass app and choose my F150, it shows Connected Navigation is available for $80 for 1 year.

Thought it came for 2 years free with 401A package or something?

Connected Built-in Nav for my Dark Horse is good for 3 years.

But, I don't use it, so ...

I don't see in in the FordPass app, but then I'm just starting the trial as well.
I'm just trying to plan. Apparently I cannot save favorite destination on my "connected device" (iPhone). I can even with a custom name using the "Connected Navigation".

@DCS go into the FordPass app, click Account (upper right corner icon), the click Connected Services. It will show you when your various plan(s) expire.

OK. Thanks!
So the only extra cost services are:
Connected Built-in Navigation (trial expires 4/4/27)
Alexa Built-in - Not interested.
Ford Premium Connectivity - Not interested.

I hope the Connected Built-in Navigation includes free map updates. I know the Subaru WRX allowed 1 or 2 free updates via Micro SD. After that, I think it was $300.00! Something outrageous.

why not just use what's on your phone? I've been using iPhone Maps for the past 6 years with my old car. Works great.

I can't save multiple destinations via the Mustang interface.

GoogleMaps for me. I haven't used my Jeep's navigation for as long as I can remember. There is no navigation anywhere that can match GoogleMaps

Google is best for optimizing your route.

Waze is best for drivers reporting traffic, cops, crashes, etc.

I run Waze, my Uniden R8 radar detector and Highway Radar app (integrates with the R8 and gets cop data from Waze).

Isnt Waze owned by Google now? Seems like GoogleMaps has slowly started incorporating some of the Waze features. Like I get speed trap notifications now. But yeah Waze is better for that or disabled vehicles and those sorts of things.
