Long story short

I had made few posts in the past about coolant levels reduction, coolant discoloration & engine oil level reduction. No check engine lights , car run great. Dealer in the past had claimed that all these are normal since they did't find any leaks..but I was not convinced. I started taking photos of the levels and keeping a log and about a month ago I went to the dealer again. After few more tests they confirmed the coolant system was loosing pressure and eventually they found that most of the cylinders were loosing pressure as well. I was "lucky" since they had another GT with similar issue.

I ended up having the engine replaced. The whole process took less than 3 weeks. All under warranty. Brand new motor.

Wish me luck lol

Wow. Good for you, sticking with it!

Was it a failed head gasket, or like most events at the dealer, the cause was not shared with you?

A combination of tiny gasket leaks, gasket wrap / worn piston rings / worn valve seals. All of the above at some extent...I assume all of them at the microscopic level since no visible leaks were present but over time the fluid levels were going down....

I was at the verge of lemoning it and go for a corvette but then I remembered all the good times I had with it...

Can't wait to pass the break in period, do oil change and "send it"...

I'm surprised any car company caved so easily. But then, they did diss you at first.

Sorry for the hassle. But at least they gave you a new engine. Glad to see you are sticking with it. 🐎

Good to hear your issue was taken care of, and I will reference your process and keep an eye on my fluids.

I've also noticed coolant decline over time for no good reason, oil drip/small leak from the factory oil filter caught on the first oil change, and newly-added coolant turning dark immediately within a day. At least no weird sludge residue in the coolant overflow tank, which I had on my '24 Ecoboost. Just my personal opinion but I think the coolant system may be a potential weakness in these engines, or due to Ford's QC process (or lack thereof!) or tolerances or something. We've had multiple threads here with owners noticing low/dropping coolant levels.

did they provide documentation with part numbers and associated costs on parts? not sure if they would share being it was a warranty repair but I'd be interested to see part numbers and cost.

I had the privilege to see all these. Dealer has been very nice to me. No complaints

Well first time the reduction was minimal , they did check for any leaks but couldn't find any...Second time was different

My coolant turned to "aged wine" color at 4k miles....not sure if this is associate with the leak. BUT they did pressurize the coolant system over night and it dropped few psi.

As a side note, I did personally checked with the madox kit but the color never changed ....tiny leaks might not shown up in the over the counter test kits.

I bought a 2015 Ford Focus SE 2.0 with 5 spd manual. The car sat around the dealers lot for 2 yrs no one wanted it. Turns out the manuals were the best Foci. Anyway, I bought the car for a smoking deal. At 6k miles the car spun a rod bearing. South Bay Ford replaced the engine obviously under warranty, almost 10 yrs. later and well over 100k miles she runs great. Don't be worried.
