Don't even compare a ZF8 to Fords 10 speed. After driving a M2 with the ZF8, it makes the mustang feel like a 2009 transmission.

So true.
That trans is next level.

nothing beats the driver engagement of a manual gearbox, nothing. That being said even the most skilled driver won't be able to make it faster than the A10. So if pure speed and tracking the vehicle is the priority it's hard to recommend the manual. If you want more fun(subjective) get the manual. As long as car makers keep making manuals I'll keep buying them even if they keep getting slower

I ordered a GT Premium Convertible, 6-speed, PP and Magnaride in May. I sat in front of the salesman at the dealership. The salesman and I reviewed the computer screen together selecting the colors and options I wanted. I walked away with a copy of the order and a receipt for my deposit.

Next day I got the first ‘Ford’ email acknowledging the order for the car, that emails would follow as the order progressed. To my surprise later that day the salesman whom I met and ordered the car with called and said he cancelled the order. The order was done under the wrong dealership. It took him 4 orders to get the options correctly. Ford sent emails for 2 of the 3. The 3rd one was right..

The car being built does not have a 6-speed, it's an automatic. It’s one of the orders the salesman got wrong..

It’s in production this week and will likely be shipped soon. I told him I wanted first dibs on the car with employee pricing that lowers the MSRP nearly 6k. If I order a 26 like I want it will run about 70 or so..

My question is.. are you satisfied with the 10 speed auto trans performance or are you aching for a 6-speed? Want to know how stick shift drivers experience driving with the automatic.

Here is the car I am waiting for..

Hi there,

I am a manual stick person. Love the way you can manage your own way of driving the engine…. HOWEVER….
I live in capital city and before I get out of town, didn’t want to risk standing on clutch all the time. So I got my first automatic ever.

Man the 10A is awesome. So smooth in normal mode, so amazing to drive around in low speeds as well as spirited drives ability. It is just way above my expectations. I would never go back to manual ever. Life changing situation. Me, as stick man all life, A10 made up way above my expectations.

Don’t be worried.

I daily drive my 6 speed. The clutch pedal is light and I'm in an area with bad trffic. No issues.

I don't care that the auto is faster.
At the risk of dating myself, I also don’t care that the Auto cars are faster. The visceral experience with a good manual adds to my overall enjoyment of a car. Tremec Dark Horse is probably the easiest to drive in traffic as any manual trans car I’ve ever had. added benefit is I find WAY less people ask if they can drive your car when it’s a stick too. Google says roughly half the world’s population can drive a stick, but only about 1/4 of the US population can.

I’ve had Fox-bodies, Corvettes, a Viper, Audi S4, Chevy SS, and a 944 Turbo all manuals. Even a few full size pickup trucks back when they were available as manuals. I always thought when I was younger that the automatic shouldn’t even be an option in a car built for spirited driving but that’s the kid in me, not the economists at auto
manufacturers.

The millennial anti theft device is real.

Whatever trans you choose is simply your decision, but you asked for opinions and you’re getting them.

this is how I felt with the Model 3 Performance. I’ve never had a car that was so easy and predictable to drive hard or just cruise in.

And yet I bought a 6 speed manual GT to replace it. It isn’t always about ease of use. Sometimes it’s more about the fun.

Lots of great points. My personal preference for S650 was manual. I’ve owned automatic sport and muscle cars. I think it depends on the car itself. Drive them both, even if you can only find a used M6.

I've always owned manual Mustangs but tried to convince myself last year when I placed my order for the 24 to go with an automatic so that my wife and son could also drive it. I test drove the automatic and was convincing myself that I can do this, then my awesome wife said, "you need to also test drive the manual so you don't regret getting an automatic". Within 30 seconds of driving the manual, I was sold and ordered the manual!

Unfortunately both wife and son can't drive my Mustang, but will teach them when I retire this Mustang and order me another one 😂.

You don't have to retire it. Just get extra clutches for when your kids burn them out, and teach them winning is not everything. Or teach them to win with an A10. I'll teach mine to win. Afterall, we're not Fred & Barney back in the stone age. Plus by the time they're able to drive we'll most likely not have gas stations anyway. From the Flintstones to the Jetsons.

And dont forget the automatic is safer too!!
How tf is the auto safer? You have more control over the car in a manual, in an emergency you can literally clutch brake along with the brakes to stop you a lot faster than an auto. You also aren't going to get any weird gear changes at inopportune times that potentially upset the balance of your car. You are far more likely to lose control of your stang with an a10 vs a manual due to how fast they shift and how they do their own thing.

Get the DH with Tremec. it. It has a very good gear ratio. Very good clutch feel. And the shifter is probably the best evaaar. Yes, it is better than the Civic Type R.
Cap, hondas have probably the most buttery smooth shifting experience aside from maybe mazda. The tremec feels clunky by comparison. The tremec is a solid trans however, it is inferior to the trans from the subaru sti, both in how much power it will handle, durability, and shifter feel. When I got my dark horse I assumed the tremec was going to be heaven, its not, its cool, feels good etc but a far cry from heaven. The clutch engagement is really high compared to any japanese made car you can find.

Mustang guys the moment you suggest they they aren't the fastest cars around, lmao.

Literally anything with a turbo and a tune can smoke an S650. Used 2022 M4's are floating around the 50K mark, and factory they handily walk away from a GT.

2022 Camaro, any Porsche from the last decade, C7, C6, CT4V, take your pick dude, and thats not even touching literally every single electric car worth more than 35K
When I had my sti I had no problem smoking gt’s that wernt boosted, all it took was a larger turbo, injectors and a downpipe. I also had an explorer st that was smoking mild bolt on gt’s, all it took was downpipes, intercooler and a tune.
