I know this will turn into a political discussion, but I'm happy they killed the auto start/stop feature. Good riddance.

This feature is small potatoes compared to the "other" deregulations, not the least of which is no more EV mandate and its other hidden costs. One of which was the multi-trillion dollar cost just to upgrade the electrical grid. Maybe now, the power companies will cut back their recent increase? We can only hope!

Do we think it will be removed already for the 2027 year model?

I'd pay extra for a car without the BS safety excrement on it.
Actually I would pay more anyway, premiums would rise.
Can't bloody win.

AS/S on my 2017 F150 died years ago. It wasn't a bad thing, but I did not mourn its passing. On my GT, it is very unobtrusive and I don't mind it at all. From my F150, I learned how to deal with it and can see some advantage to it. If Ford were to keep it a part of a package, like the Premium models, it would be fine. Just as long as they leave a way to turn it off.

They should do a firmware update where it's OFF by default, then you push the button if you want to turn it on (like if you're pulling up to a huge intersection that has a 2-minute wait, or pausing on your favorite twisty road to leave some space from the car in front)

Disclosure: I am not associated with 4dtech, its products or sales.

I haven't noticed a thread on these items before, but at least one company sells Start/Stop defeat cables. Install the cable. Never press the button again. I haven't studied it in-depth, but the cable probably acts as a loopback or completion circuit, making the vehicle think you've already pressed the button.

For the 7G, installation involves temporarily removing one of the screens.

Can I have my $1000 gas guzzler tax back, then? Had to pay that since my job 1 '24 didn't come with AS/S. Still salty about it on a car that gets a a rated 24 mpg on the highway, but I am glad I don't have that stupid feature on my car.

Interesting question. I wonder if they eliminate this also, but then again: it’s a revenue maker so it probably will stick around.
