That sounds really frustrating! I had a similar experience with another insurance company when they suddenly redefined "vehicle performance modifications" and adjusted my policy without much notice. It’s crazy how they can change things up like that. Regarding your situation, it might be worth talking to a local attorney who specializes in these cases. I heard from a friend that a bus accident attorney Sugar Land, handled a tricky insurance claim really well. They might be able to give you some guidance on how to deal with Geico’s changes.

Yeah if I buy a new S650 the telematics systems that report driving behavior and end up in data files that are sold to insurance companies will be the first thing I remove from the car. It's pathetic that there is ZERO privacy in the world today.

I hear you—I've been with USAA for decades too, and the rate hikes are getting hard to justify. I recently switched to GEICO here in Florida and shaved about 30% off my premium for similar coverage. Their customer service is decent, and the mobile app makes everything smooth. Worth getting a quote.

I have been with USAA insurance and banking for over 45 years. Over the past few years, their insurance rates have continued to rise despite having zero claims from me.
Before I take delivery of my new Mustang I want to research other companies writing policies in Florida.

Recommendations?
I canceled USAA insurance a long time ago. The rates are horrible.
I went with Travelers.

I did exactly that , pulled the fuse disconnected the antenna, They still sell your data even if you select the dont share my data option in the infotainment. Its all "Anonymous" data which is easily aggrigated to identify you through collecting more "Anonymous" data. Also look behind your obd2 port. they like to "prep" the car for lojack service add on but it still sends data to ford so even if you pull the fuse for the antenna it will still tattle on you. Its easyto remove and its usually tucked down behind the drivers kick pannel. Funny thing was when i did that about 2 months later my insurance went down. Funny that eh?

I check rates every few months and Progressive has been the best for my 3 fully insured vehicles. I left USAA years ago due to their ever increasing rates...

Im with progressive auto. They're by far the cheapest for me in California Northbay area. I tried more than several auto insurance companies months before I bought my DarkHorse. Went from 2016 Nissan 370z base model, to 2025 Darkhorse premium with handling package and appearance package. Was right around 108.00 month for the Z with 2500 deductibles Collison Comprehensive. Darkhorse is around 138.00 month for 1500 deductibles. I couldn't believe how good the rates were at progressive. I can even get it cheaper by going higher deductibles but for now keeping cause brand new vehicle. Very happy with progressive , really are alot cheaper than competitors by huge margins..confused on why though maybe it's just wacky California. NJ native.. sorry for long post just had to share i guess..

I was surprised at the premium quote for the Mustang, at $1260 pa it was a bit less than I was paying for my 2020 Cupra Ateca. I expected much more given the Mustangs reputation.
But then I noticed that my wife's shopping basket was the same despite being half the value.
I queried it and they gave the usual "cost of repairs" thing.
Then I helped a mate living in the South Island buy a 2022 Suzuki Jimny near where I live. He paid $22,000, had a different insurance company, same no claims history, lower risk location at home, and guess what his premium was? Yeah, $1200 pa.
That seems to be the universal starting point for near new cars here.

In summary, insurance companies are going to do what they want to do. I've been with my insurance company for 48 years so I get every discount they have so I can't afford to leave the expensive bastards.

The only good thing they offer is that they gave me a provision that they can't cancel my insurance for any reason. They aren't giving that to new customers now. Of course they can charge me anything they want. I think it's a corrupt industry just like pharmaceuticals.

I left USAA for car but not home. Even with the combination they could not off a better deal than Travelers. What DID surprise me was that full coverage for my 2024 was only $23.00 more than my 2003 GT Vert ! All the safety stuff in the new Mustang does seem to help with the cost.

I could write a book about pharma...I work in production of it and the wife is a PharmD. My son needs an Epi-pen that costs just over $2 to make and ship...that we get charged ~$175 with the best coupon card we can find.

Auto insurance is way over priced, but a good portion of that is LEOs stopped enforcing no insurance, so those that have it have to make up the difference. Health insurance is over priced due to similar reasons, ERs can't turn away folks that don't have it, so others need to make it up. That and the meteoric rise of admins in medicine.

I'm a little late with response. 45+ years as well with USAA. They are a shadow of what they used to be. I've experienced substantial rate increases as well without any claims. Still looking for better options.

Exactly true on the administration and additional costs to the medical industry because of insurance in admistrative functions. My daughter walked away from a $175K/ year nurse practitioner job due to insurance requirements, liability, and corporate control. Her husband makes a fortune so no hit on the family budget. If anyone wants to know who controls the medical care industry, it's big insurance. They literally tell doctors and nurse practitioner medical care providers what they will and won't pay for which, naturally affects their take home pay. Hospitals naturally take a huge hit also.

I got rid off USSA.
Like you mentioned.
They have raised their rates so many times I lost track.
I went with travelers insurance.
