Would like some advise or any opinions.
I ordered a vapour blue GT with black pack and magneride with manual transmission in April 24. Original delivery was late October 24 but that didn’t last to long before receiving notice of delays. Currently my car now a 25 build is April at the earliest. My dealer has given options of cars that have arrived which I insisted on the manual. In early November I verbally agreed on a carbonized grey manual with no options, sitting in the dealership and told I could have in 2 weeks. Then comes the recall….
Given no clear fix for the recall, I may only wait another month or two for the car I originally wanted.
Only compromised because I thought I was getting a car earlier.
This is getting very frustrating.
The only compromise on a S650 Mustang is the colour, suspension and gearbox imho, all of those compromises are emotive ones not ones that radically change the S650. The reason I purchased this car is for the aftermarket parts which there are plenty. I have already changed the exhaust tips, added door striker plate covers, added door bolt covers and added an RTR Duck Bill Spoiler. Future mods will be 20" RTR Rims, study the Torsion Diff, study if you can change to a T56 Tremec which I have in my 71 XY. The Australia S650 GT's come with all the other fruit it was kind off worth the wait almost everybody on this forum has waited a minimum of 12 months to get their car, we were all hoping the 2025's wouldn't take so long but alas Ford and the tyranny of distance.

Hmm, interesting. I don’t think my original vapour blue order has been built as it was pushed out to a 25 build with extra cost and changed to bronze pack. Will touch base with dealer in first week of new year for update. May even drop in to have another look at my carbonized grey just to reassure myself. Was my second choice colour after the blue anyway.
Thanks for advise xrs, may look at some accessories when it finally arrives.

The only thing I’d say is think about whether you want to miss out on Magnaride. That cannot be added and in experience with my car it’s brilliant.

Given the delays those who now have theirs, or have theirs on a boat have experienced I am confident the actual ETA for your 25 build will be May or June, not April.

Read my signature below for an example of ETA changes. If I wanted to compromise I'd jump on something available now, but I'm so invested in what I ordered I have decided to grit my teeth and bare it.

Yes I agree with the ETA being pushed back again deano1978, but based on previous postponements, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the second half of the year. This is why I caved and took the quick option., only the recall has me second guessing. A fair bit cheaper the 24 with no options, but that wouldn’t totally sway me.

I've reached out to Paul Maric. You might know him from the CarExpert videos on Youtube. Paul is co-founder of CarExpert.com.au. I essentially told him that so many of us have been waiting for years and are now waiting even longer with very little info from Ford as to how the fix is tracking. I was hoping Paul might have some better connections inside Ford from a journalism perspective. He said they will see if they can find some more info for us and let me know. If he gets anything meaningful I'm sure they will also update their website with the news.

Lets see what info they can get. This is the previous story they had on the recall:

Went to the dealership today. They are hopeful that this will be resolved but the end of the month. Hopefully. He said he would move my car from the racks to be prepared to add extra stuff I asked for. So I'm starting to get excited again and I am probably getting my hopes up but 🤞

Ok guys, I've got some news! Obviously take this as an estimate. Things might change if issues are found etc, but here is what Paul managed to find out for us.

Ford's initial reply to his enquiries:
" Hi Paul - got some info from the tech team: he’s referring to the instrument panel cluster issue that’s been reported on. We expect the software fix to roll out to all dealers very soon (within 1-2 weeks or less). To reduce the wait where we can, we’ve been able to update some cars manually and they’ve been cleared for release to customers once updated. Can understand his frustration - but team is working as fast as they can. Hopefully this helps. "

Paul then clarified by asking:
" Asking for clarity on whether the 1-2 weeks is the fix being complete or if that’s just when the dealer will get access to the fix. "

To which Ford answered:
" Dealers will receive in 1-2 weeks, then need to apply it to vehicles, but it’s a pretty quick software update and the number per dealer is small, so should customer deliveries should be around the same time "

Hopefully this means we get some good news soon! Kudos to Paul from CarExpert for being willing to help and getting us some better estimates.

That's some good work on your part there.

It's a shame that the only way to get communication out of Ford is to put a high-profile media personality in front of them.

Yeah it's sad really. We are their biggest supporters and they treat us like crap. All I wanted to know was an honest estimate of when I can expect to get my car. A perfectly reasonable question after waiting 3 years for a Mustang. Getting the copy and paste generic "we have nothing new to share, go away" answer is a real insult and slap in the face.
I really hope I never have any warranty claims on this car because I would just expect to be treated like the cat dragged me in after this purchasing experience. 🤷

I wonder what this means for those of us that have their car but are still subject to the recall - it doesn't sound like it is an OTA fix - more like a "book it in" issue...
