2025 auto brand new at my local dealer, 100 grand.

S650 Mustang Aussie depreciation. 1758624963059-49

2024 auto with 6000k's on the clock 78 grand.

Same car, different colour. Drive it for 6 to 12 months and lose 22 grand!?

Why the F'k would you buy a new one?

It's the LCT (luxury car tax) that's not being charged on the cheaper vehicles.
I believe you'll still need to pay $3k government duty on top, so 78 becomes 81.

Nonetheless, if one's not looking to get the very latest model - a year-old car will do just fine.

I was over a company there along with one here and a night in a Marriot in Brisbane was $400 in 2009. A breakfast buffet in the Marriot was $35. Everything was/is like "WOW!!". Better stop, too much I never understood about Aussies and Canuks. I think it's called "socialism".

I bought mine brand new, 2024 auto cost $90k including the LCT, Appearance pack, with some dealer options I chose. For starters, the 2025 model has a price increase (and feature decrease), and its 2025 instead of 2024.
But I get it, I would not have paid $100k for the exact same car as the 2024.

It's 78 drive away.

I do wonder how people with one on order must feel seeing this. It would give me massive buyers remorse and I'd be looking to cancel. If you even lost your deposit you'd still be better off, and you don't have to go through the crazy wait which for me isn't part of the fun.

When I got mine earlier this year I got a 6 week old (from first registration) demo with just under 1000K's on the clock. Saved $5,500 and was driving it two days later.

I was fairly pleased with that at the time but now the price gap between new and nearly new has really opened.

I waited 5 months for mine (2024.5) and paid full price. I'm successfully fighting the buyer's remorse by driving daily with the roof down :) Infinite happiness cures all money woes.

Couldn't agree more! 16 months from order to delivery for me. As soon as ordering was available I was at the Dealer. Is my daily and couldn't be more happy.

Thanks for the info. It's yet another disaster artificially brought in by the Labor government.
I've just checked the latest prices and was shocked.

PS. $6k, since they added $1k extra last month

I've just had a week in Mooloolaba, and I don't care about depreciation, carbon tax, whatever other BS Albo forces on you. You are very lucky buggers to live in OZ, especially Queensland.
None of the doom and gloom that we have over here in whatever name we're supposed to call NZ. Even my wife was mumbling about a move there.
And I saw a S650 Grabber Blue like mine with a gloss black roof - super sharp. And I was so envious I had a have another bottle of wine.

It appears the red one has the bronze pack, I dont know how much extra that adds to the price?

What was the 2024 car new?

I doubt it was the same as the 2025 car so the depreciation is not $22k

However buying and then selling a new car after 12 months is never a clever thing to do. Keep them both 5 years and the maths will be far closer. Also in some cases new cars (not the Mustang at the moment) often come with finance deposit contributions and 0% finance whereas second hand cars don't and often have far worse interest rates. The monthly finance on a new car can often be cheaper than a year old car, certainly in the UK.

I am currently seeing MY25 cars with delivery K's available for low to mid 80's here in Aus. What happens in the UK isn't relevant to this thread.

So, the point stands. Very hard to justify ordering a car unless you are OK with throwing 5 figures down the toilet.
