You just think about while enjoying the MT82 and not having any issues. Simple really.Really? How do you get a Tremec in a GT?
How do you save $20K when MSRP for a GT configured like what comes standard on a DH is just a few thousand dollars less?
It’s not a few thousand different. That’s the point. That's just it; having felt the Tremec I'd never enjoy the MT82 knowing it was only a few thousand dollars' difference; I'd spend at least that much on short shift kits to try to bring tne MT82 closer to the Tremec throws.
This is the 2026 GT Premium I ordered and decided to not take delivery of:It’s not a few thousand different. That’s the point.
We went looking at GT and we didn't like it...Just wasn't "sporty enough" and the salesman was like well we did get a darkhorse delivered today. The rest is shall we say...historyI've never seen more than $2000 off on a 2026 DH; they're quite rare and cannot be easily ordered if you want one before the 2027 model year.
If you're willing to take delivery of one sitting on a dealer lot, availability is a little bit better.
There are great deals on DHs now especially non handling pack. Sometimes money isn't everything. When I bought my 2006 GT I had to get an automatic. I have been waiting (and saving) almost 20 years for another model I liked as much as the 2006 GT. I bought my DH because of the Tremec, the looks (painted stripes, love them, love the emblem, love the name), and I wanted "GT350" "Mach 1" type handling Mustang for mountain drives. I am not going to modify anything. I only have light weight wheels. I do 2 track events a year but not with my car. I want a NA V8, I don't want a supercharger. There is very little on my 2006 that is stock, I wanted to keep the DH stock. We went looking at GT and we didn't like it...Just wasn't "sporty enough" and the salesman was like well we did get a darkhorse delivered today. You haven't even driven a Tremec guy. Well said Griptime. In 2012 my wife and I factory ordered a 2013 GT/CS. I probably did close to 9k in mods. With her working from home it turned into a show car. I miss that pig! There are great deals on DHs now especially non handling pack. Sometimes money isn't everything. When I bought my 2006 GT I had to get an automatic. What are you talking about? Most of the expensive GT options - MagneRide, Active Exhaust, B&O Stereo, Anti-Theft Package, and most of the 701A options - are standard on the DH, as is effectively the GT Performance Package.Apples and oranges in terms of equipment. Now go compare with a DH premium. Also, as mentioned you shouldn't be paying MSRP for either.
I have test driven a manual DH, and test driven many, many GTs.You haven't even driven a Tremec guy. You played with the shifter in a show room. And to my knowledge you haven't driven a MT82 either. Also an after market shifter is a few hundred dollars not thousands.
He did compare with the DH PremiumApples and oranges in terms of equipment. Now go compare with a DH premium. Also, as mentioned you shouldn't be paying MSRP for either.
He's comparing to a base DH. The DH premium starts at 8k more than a fully loaded GT PP, which puts you at 70k without adding more options. He did compare with the DH Premium
For a few thousand more you get the Tremec, coolers, better looking front and rear end, beefed up engine internals, 500 HP, some GT500 subframe components, Dark Horse name and serial #. Nicer seats.
And you don't have to pay a premium now as you can easily find for 5% off msrp
