Finally locked down and finalized a purchase on a Dark Horse with Handling Pack built exactly the way I wanted. The car is in Michigan and I am planning on driving it back to Phoenix...1900 miles. Really looking forward to spending some quality time with the car, even though it's all boring interstate driving.
Is this a bad idea with the Trofeo RS tires? Anyone driven long distance with these? (Contemplating hitting a Discount Tire and switching them out and shipping the Trofeos home. )
It would be cheaper to just have the car shipped to you.

Wow! That is crazy! They are not nearly that much over here! Well, there has to be something just as good that isn't commanding such a premium.
With the current exchange rate:

One front tire CAD $795 = USD $573.
One rear tire CAD $661 = USD $476.

Here in the US, one front tire is $418 (USD $155 less vs Canada)
Here in the US, one rear tire is $440 (USD $36 less vs Canada)

Drive them home to shave them down for your next HPDE! I have 2500 hard miles on mine with 3 autocross events and a drag strip visit. I'm almost ready to replace all corners and aside from poor toe alignments, I don't see how others are going through theirs in less time by just driving on the street.
I can tell you the arizona summers are not friendly to tires, especially sticky tires. I mean we have had multiple 115-118° days. The blacktop gets double than that if not more so it just breaks down tires. Especially when you start carving corners and driving hard.

THIS ^^

I had my car shipped from Wisconsin to Georgia.
When did you have it shipped and how much did it cost you then? Perhaps you can give the OP an idea of what it might cost. It may be an option worth looking into for him.

I'm guessing around $1,500 or so (today), given the current (horrible) state of the economy and energy prices.

I had mine shipped from Texas to AZ about 2 months ago and it was 650 in total

Not sure where it came from in TX, but Austin to Scottsdale is about 1,000 miles. Double that for his 1,900 mile trip -- so maybe $1,300, give or take some.

I shipped my 2021 GT from a dealership in Alberta to myself here in Ontario; a distance of roughly 3400km. I think it was $1600.00 and that was in a covered transport with a reputable transpo company.

For those long drives it is just worth it.

It came from Grapevine and it turned out to be exactly 1000 miles to where I had it shipped. So that's probably right. Unless he gets it shipped enclosed which I didn't do

Easy Auto Ship LLC.

I paid $1200.00. That included insurance. Very easy process. I had it shipped in December 2023. As you can see it's in a private trailer. That's what you want. The OP needs to call and get a quote. Negotiate if necessary, the prices aren't set in stone. I got two quotes.

PART: Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S

COST (2x FRONTS): $1590.34 CAD
COST (2x REARS): $1322.74 CAD
Not only WOW! But bleeping A WOW!

Can you drive over to the States, buy them and transport them back into Canada, or would you have to declare them as an "imported" item?

Thanks for the tip. I'll check out the reviews on the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S
For the same reasons already mentioned. picked up my DH with HP went to my tire guy and ordered the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S and put them on at 178 kilometers on the car. Now looking for some track rims to put the RS's on. Would recommend these great for the street. Have a safe drive.
