I could not find one comparison on YouTube between the stock GT exhaust and the GT active. I want the quietest mode due my neighborhood expectations. I need a side by side comparison of both vehicles. The only close topic was comparing Eco boost to active GT. No stock GT included!! ugh.

The real question: Is the stock GT quieter than the GT active on quiet mode?
To answer your "real question", I doubt it and think it would make a little more noise than an AE in quiet mode. I had mine in quiet mode for a few miles this morning and the engine and exhaust just make noise. It's a 486 HP (mine is), V8. It isn't going to sound like a Honda Civic but quiet mode is quiet to me. Just my opinion.

Fun thread! I wasn't intending to get AE on my GT, but when the need arose and this/my car was available, it landed. I keep it in quiet mode most of the time, but then with a convertible you always hear it.

I've been meaning to check user manual - is it possible the active exhaust opens up when you really get on it? There are a few places in my normal travels where a bit of vigor is deserved... the wail that results is fantastic. /me hopes it scares minivans drivers. ;) ...especially good under bridges. ;D

OTOH, I am surprised it isn't truly more quiet in "quiet mode". There are times when that would be suitable and then I could normally run in "Normal" mode. ;)

It's completely quiet on the highway at 70mph. Much easier to fall asleep at the wheel!

I've broken in a car 100% on the highway. Simple, as you said, just vary the speed and "punch it" some now and then. Worked fine in that car.
Exactly, it's just about bedding in the rings with some extra cylinder pressure under load and making sure they're being lubricated well.

When I drive to Canada I intend to blast my way there. But as I said in an earlier post I'll see how long that lasts. The longest trip I've taken in track mode was about 3 hours round trip. This trip will be 12-14 hours. Do any of my Canuck friends know what law enforcement thinks of loud exhausts?
Convertible top down with Track Mode exhaust is incredible 😎
Got it! Now go through the tunnel on Rt 476 in PA and nail it! Turn around and do it again southbound! Oh yeah! Glenn

No it is not.
Tell me if I'm wrong but I assume (there's that word again) that the stock Mustang probably only has normal mode, so wouldn't it be louder than an AE Mustang in quiet mode? Just sayin'. Glenn

Normal as your go-to? If you want to scare the minivan drivers, try track mode. It will add gray hairs to their receding hairlines, like teenagers do! Glenn

Sorry, but I don't follow the question.

For those not familiar with active exhaust -

Understand that quiet mode isn't wisper quiet. It's not like turning the sound off on a stealth fighter or something. Cold starts are still surprisingly boomy. Cruising is pretty sedate, but by no meams silent. Normal has some decent volume. Sport is loud. Track is louder. Active exhaust has a valve that controls one chamber in each muffler. One chamber is always open no matter what. It's still a dual exhaust V8.

If you’re comparing active exhaust to non-active exhaust, I'd say non-active exhaust volume is somewhere between normal and sport mode volume on active exhaust models. Quiet mode is still quieter than non-active exhaust. But it's not drastic. If you want a truly legitimate "quiet" exhaust, then don't buy a GT in either configuration.

I do have a question on the Favorites button.

I’m pretty sure it doesn’t work like I’m thinking- would be too much to ask of Ford… lol…

Ok- let’s say I have the car set to track mode by default.

Now, I make the favorite button “quiet”… once I hit the quiet button, can I hit that button a second time to toggle back and forth between my favorite setting and my default setting?

That’s exactly what it does.

Ok - so thanks for everyone who has been commenting on my which trim / spec to purchase.

I'd only driven a base GT up until this point... couldn't find a manual PP with Active Exhaust to drive - until today.

What am I missing?

The Performance Pack - 100% Definite improvement. Love everything about it. It's a must purchase / add.

I was most excited to test out the active exhaust...

And - well, I came away a bit - underwhelmed.

What am I missing?

At idle, all settings sounded the same (car was already warmed up when I got there - salesman took it and put gas in it).
Under half+ throttle, there was definitely a difference, but nothing like I expected. I was expecting quiet to be - well, super quiet.
It was still nice and rumbly. But even track mode (which I'm assuming is wide open) - it was only moderately louder.

I came away with from it thinking - why would I spend $1600 on that option when all the modes sounded like they were within 20% of each other...

Did I do something wrong? Saleman was of course clueless on how even to find the settings - I finally figured it out.

Thanks in advance, again...
You notice a bigger difference when you add an H or X-pipe.
