Track Mode is way too obnoxiously loud as it is. I have to wonder if folks who want it louder are legally deaf.
That’s for when the local scatpack or high-revving paint can pulls up next to you.

If you do the conversion yourself its going to cost well more than the factory option after you buy the system, rear diffuser, and pay for the installation. Dont forget too that you'll need to use forescan to enable the exhaust mode switches in the car.

I would just find a car that has AE. It doesnt have to be a PP car as most GT premiums were ordered with it.

As for whether you need it... its a cool party trick. Track mode opens the system all the way and gives you 6 more HP. It sounds amazing but is obnoxious on the street. I generally leave it in normal or sport. Its definitely nice to have the option and the quad tips look killer.

The only good thing about the active exhaust ironically is the ability to silent mode. Normal mode is already annoying for me. As much as I love the sound of the coyote I don’t need it on all the time.
Normal mode is too annoying for you? If you got a GT with AE and only drive around in silent mode we may have to take your man card and get you an Ecoboost.

To be honest I don't believe the 6hp gain. I believe its marketing hype to get people to spring the extra $1600 active exhaust.
Even if it is true, 6 hp increase is nothing except for bench racing/brag sheet. I like the active exhaust for early am start ups in the driveway for my neighbors & so I can use quit mode if talking or listening to something. I don’t see a lot of difference in Sport & Track modes except with HARD acceleration. I usually run in Sport exhaust mode for my ears entertainment pleasure.

Wow! I don't even turn the radio on while driving, just to hear the Coyote.

I recommend getting active exhaust if possible, because it's factory-warrantied, boosts value at resale rather than reduce value like aftermarket mods, and avoids/minimizes risk of issues with Johnny Law.

The power difference is negligible, and you could almost certainly get the same (or more) with a freer-flowing aftermarket exhaust. As far as I know the active exhaust option is basically a modifiable amount of muffler deletion.

Someone else posted they recommend just an axle-back, and I share that bias. I tried both a full muffler delete and a Roush axle-back, and really loved the tone both gave. Super deep, low rumble without any of the tin can metallic clanging noise that I hear when people modify both the resonator (X/H-pipe) AND the muffler (axle-back, or like if you get a full cat-back).

And to respond to your thread title, here's the best vid I found comparing base exhaust vs active exhaust:

As several other Forum Members have said..................your cheapest option is to continue looking for a GT that has the AE option (or order one at the dealer of your choice). You DO NOT have to have the PP to order/get the AE on a Premium GT.

Best of luck shopping; we're saving a place for you here! 👍

$1500 for 6hp at the crank (advertised). Something you will never feel. So it's a looks/sound thing. Personally, like the single tip exhaust sound and looks.
