For those attempting this mod (that have a late production mustang) and don't have ambient lighting as an option, my post on this *does* have the wiring diagram for Zone 1 ambient lighting, which is what the door sill plates will use. I would not attempt to use Zone 3 (footwell/door handle lights) as it isn't meant to run the door sills.

Adding Ambient Lighting onto Non-AL Mustang

2020 F150 4x4 Limited. 2024 GT Mustang Premium. Both in Rapid Red.
I know my 24 Dark Horse premium did not have them.
Our 2024 GT 401-A has the Lighted Door Sills available in 28 different colors.
Purchased March 31, 2025.
I don’t have a clue why Ford decided to Delete the Lighted Door Sills.
Everyone likes them. They make the Mustang look cool at night with the Pony lights under the side Mirror's under the Doors.

@Stanzzi...... agreed lighted sills deleted to save profit margins BUT what a STUPID way to do it. I would gladly have paid $400.00 or more to have it as an option. Ford still has the harness installed in my 2026GT (like it was in my 2024 GT) all they had to do was add the sills and program them. ...... if marketing had a clue they'd have offered the lighted sills as an option. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I have ordered the lighted sills, will install them now and have them connected also then have them into the software as soon as I can do it properly. MY plan is to go through Ford client services and see if they will liaise with my dealer to activate them.

Just add a few hundred bucks to the premium package for the GT and DH and keep all the things they recently deleted like the lighted sill, the integrated garage door opener, etc. I really don't understand Ford's logic (besides keeping the price down, but what is $500 on a $60,000-$80,000 vehicle)?

Ford doesnt make those sills. My guess is who ever the supplier is either raised their prices or had a dispute with Ford. I wouldn't be surprised if a Tariff was involved.

These days, everything is a metric. The bean counters drive everything no matter what it is. However I'm inclined to agree with others that this was a supply chain problem just like the start/stop electronics were on the 2024 early job 2 cars, like mine which did not get it. When the bean counters were told the parts were unavailable they made some calculations on potential savings and that was the final nail in the coffin. Just my 2 cents.

@AZ_Ryan et. al. ....... what he said - my dealer is still trying to get me the sills. Aparently there is a dispute occurring and delaying even when ( he wisely) requested the sills as a part replacement. Perfect - now parts are a problem.
