FYI the vmp carbon fiber brase is a floppy pos
It adds no structural rigidity
I was wondering that same exact thing. Damâť— Thanks for letting the info. That does suck because it would've been option for me to use it instead of trying to figure how to get the ESS system.

Some of you know, Im a tuner. And I have owned 5 now of these S650s. Building tunes and testing for the last year. I've owned, tested and tuned all the major kits except the Roush kit. So with my new 26 GT I have, I decided to try it out.

One thing to note, the roush has a bad rep from the previous gen blowers being the old Eaton Roots style. They heat soak and are generally inferior to all other PD style blowers from the last few years.

Well this newest version is based off the Magnusson 2650 rotor pack/cooling brick design. Its a TVS blower, not roots. Its far more effecient than what you would have gotten before. The case design, the cooling bricks size and placement. Its right on par with the Whipple 3.0.

The 2650 TVS blower Roush now uses is very similar to the LT4 Magnuson 2650 that everyone loves on that platform. Its known for better than stock tq down low like a PD blower, but pulls harder up top like a centrifugal blower.

And having one now on Roush's tune, I can tell you this is still the case. It has a bit more punch than the G3 ESS blower my last 2025 had, but it pulls harder than the whipple 3.0 I also had...lol. These are all seat of the pants feelings, but I seem to have found a sweet spot.

The point of getting this was to create custom tunes for it to sell like I have for all the other kits, but also have something I can enjoy as well. I dont feel the need to sell this car as quickly once I have all my tuning complete.

But for what I feel the roush tune is pretty darn good. Shifts nice, drives nice and pulls hard to basically the stock shift points. I will be putting in all my quality of life changes and also leaning it out/turning it up a bit spark wise. There are always lots that can be done over these OEM calibrations.

Here is what she looks like. Completely stock with just the kit installed.

What's the orange car? Looks like a '68-72 GM A-body like a Malibu or Chevelle.

Ok so no actual data yet. After digging into it, its clear that whipple and roush are either working together on the majority of the calibration, or they are getting data sets from Ford to apply to the calibrations. There are a laundry list of identical data between the two calibrations.

With all that being said, Roush's version is very much more conservative in many respects. Which I would imagine is why most whipple v roush dyno shootouts go to whipple.

Well let me tell you this. I corrected many of the very conservative tq management, fueling, trans and many other parts of the tune to get the cleanest version of what this 810hp Phase 2 kit is capable. Flashed it, cleared KAM and reset trans adaptives. Went out to drive it.

I fixed all the clunky shifting and wet noodle pedal demand feel. Fixed the cooling garbage that I wouldnt let slip on a stock eco mustang let alone a boosted GT. And let me tell you. Shes cool as a cucumber now and drives at part and heavy part throttle smoooooooth as glass. Caddy style.

Now down to business. I KNOW the TVS2650R blower is the business. Its THEEE blower to have on the LT4 platform. And guess what. With the right tune, this fucking car has turned into a time machine. Im ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY. This car as is feels 100% faster than my G3 ESS car with the 120 pulley.

It pulls like a 737 on take off straight to 7500 then hits so hard now I about lost it on the 3-4 shift. I mistakenly turned off TC in drag mode/manual mode using autoupshit now for "roll racing" and my god. Roush has done this kit such a disservice and its slept on so hard due to the whipple domination and tuning before these were even mainstream.

If you were wondering which to get, well I had a whipple 3.0 on my 22GT with headers and the 3.750 pulley, and this feels faster. Now I dont have any quantifiable data yet, but I will.

I first need to get a drag radial to make sure I dont kill myself in a crash or at least be able to get clean data. I have the tune about 80% clean, but I have some trans tq modulation I have to solve for now since its just destroying what the roush calibration was allowing it for power.

Once I get a tire, I will drag out the draggy and see where we land. Im going to the drag strip as well, but I can only imagine like Brenspeed this will run 9s out of the box on a tire. It sure feels like its at that level now. Im still reeling from how different it felt from just the roush tune. There is no way its not making 750+ to the tire now. No way.

More to come. And FYI, many retailers are blowing these kits out right now for like $9k or something. ITS A STEAL for that. And Roush gives you the 3/36 if you have an ASE mechanic install it.

@ZXMustang : Interesting. Keep the info coming. When I first came over to the S650, I saw this blower on a vehicle and wondered what it was. I thought the dual intake was cool.

Good to hear that you are able to pull power out and set it to its full potential. Most likely, like the Whipple Stage 1, Roush has really dialed this blower back for the warranty.

For sure they have. Worse than whipple does with their tunes. And in fairness to whipple - I know more than a few of them guys over there, their calibration is better than what roush had. Looks like Ford dropped a base cal on both Roush and whipple, and whipple at least turned it up where they could. Not much, but a few quality of lift things as well as some tq management fixes and whatnot.

But overall these kits are super gimped. Again fairness to whipple, I can turn those up as well. I love adding the ghost cam and pop flame to them too. Lots of guys want that with the whipple kits.

How much boost with the supplied pulley? You should dragy it to see what it runs. I haven't seen a roush car even retuned run a good time yet.

Log shows right around 14psi. That’s with the supplied 84mm pulley. If my butt dyno is even half accurate, this thing is screaming. I got to get a tire though. All I can do are 3rd gear rolls and on the 3-4 it damn near blows them off.
