While Shelby American seems to be taking that approach, Ford isn't. Ford alienated boomers with the Mach E and the iPad screens in the S650. A lot of older boomers (the ones who truly experienced the 60s muscle car era as teens or young adults) never even warmed up to the S550, considering it "too European" in appearance. The one exception is the S550 Bullitt. It definitely was popular with boomers who accepted the S550.Ford and Shelby's only play left for Mustangs is milking boomer nostalgia until the boomer generation dies out (no offense to boomers on this board).
For perspective, I'm a young boomer who grew up in the 70s. (We had the worst cars, lol.) I'm in a senior golf league with 130 people, primarily boomers 5-15 years older than me. The only performance cars I see in the lot when arriving for tournaments are S197 Shelbys and C5 or C6 Vettes. My S550 is the only one in the lot.
