2026 GT - Noise from Bell Housing after 50 Miles

Hi Everyone,

I was happy to take delivery of my ordered 2026 GT PP, manual gearbox last month.

I inspected/test drove the car when it arrived and drove it home carefully, minding proper break-in procedures, etc. It ran and drove great.

It’s been cold/snowy here over the last month, so the car sat in the garage with only 50 miles on it. This past Sunday, temps hit 46 deg., so I decided to take a drive for further break-in.

After 20 minutes into the drive, I began to hear a faint chirping sound from the bell housing area when stopped with the clutch disengaged (quiet when engaged).

Since the sound is slightly louder when I put the shifter in gear from neutral (with clutch still disengaged), it has all the tell-tale properties of pilot bearing noise (throw-out bearing noise will not usually change with shifter position, I.e locking the input shaft by shifting into a gear vs being in neutral).

Other than the noise, it shifted fine while driving.

Before I jump to conclusions, has anyone had this experience during break in? Bearings usually do not need “break-in” - unless I’m hearing something else.

The plan of course is to put more miles on it and see what transpires.

I have owned manual gearboxes (performance-oriented) for the past 39 years and never had an issue with a clutch or gearbox assembly, even beyond 200k miles.

I didn't have this issue with mine when new (24 GT, MT-82, currently 18K+ miles). I would take it to Ford regardless to at least get it documented since the mileage is so low.
