My biggest gripe about the custom settings is it is not fully custom. the magnaride settings are locked to the drive mode. For example, say you want the normal trans shift setting but the sport shock settings that is not possible because as soon as you select normal as the base setting the shocks are locked in normal mode. You can change the steering and exhaust to whatever you want.
I believe the Shelbys are the mustangs that let select suspension independently of the drive mode. I know the M1s didn't allow for it.

I don't mind not getting Magneride now. It would be useless to me if it's tied to mode.
I often had my last car in full fat everything and shocks in comfort for rough roads.
My M1 had magnaride and I honestly thought it was over rated for anything but track use. Obviously spring rate and tires are a major factor, but for my money the S650 GT premiums ride quality is far better.

Personally, I think magnaride is mostly there to mitigate the harsh ride brought on by the stiffer springs in the PPs.

Good to know. So softest setting is still stiffer than standard GT PP shocks?

That I don't know. I'm just comparing the M1 (which all have magnaride) to my non PP GT S650.

I haven't driven both, but here's another aspect:
MagneRide is not just "soft in normal, stiff in sport".
In every mode it is a dynamic system that changes the characteristics of each individual shock depending on the very situation, i.e. a harsh turn left will stiffen the right shock to lessen body roll, or when the front shock feels a pot hole, the rear will reduce the rebound so the rear wheel won't hit the hole less hard.

Well said. Magnaride is a handling feature, and a very good one at that. Going in and out of hard turns feels smooth and stable. On a DD it's really there to make your car feel like a Cadillac.

I just ordered a S650 Convertible P8F/44X 6-speed PP and Magnaride. I read what I could about the technology before I checked the box... MR was invented by Delphi. GM marketed first gen on Caddy's and Vette's. GM later sold Delphi to the Chinese firm that was manufacturing the components and are marketing the system to several manufacturers now. It's been revised over the years and now in gen 3.
