How (dangerously) stretched would a 275/35R19 tire be on a 19x11 wheel (my DH w/HP)

I haven't heard that...but I have met a few over the years who could very well convince themselves that they only need winter-tire traction in the rear. Ugh.

Yes, or they think that placing snow tires on the drive wheels only; usually on front wheel drive vehicles. Sounds like you have a handle on things.

The Vredestein winter tire specs agree with you; that is, 9.5 is the ideal measured rim width. I'm sure the tire would do well in the range you suggest. However, the Vredestein Wintrac Pro+, which I've mounted stretched in the past on my RS3, M4, M2, and Supra, also state their acceptable range width is 9 to 11". And the min width for 11s is 275.

If they don't seem to operate well or "feel" right, I'll revert to my plan to run a square setup using 19x10 wheels.

I am looking into a winter wheel/tire set up--e.g., Steeda Tridents 19x10 all around.

However, I happen to have a set of 275/35R19 winters still in excellent condition. As such, I was toying with the idea of trying to fit them on my DH (with the HP wheels: 19x10.5F / 19x11R). I don't do a lot of driving in the winter--mostly errands, but no long hauls and certainly no "sporty" driving.

Not worried about the fronts--I've run that spec before. But, wondering if anyone has any experience with a 275/35 on a 19x11 wheel...

Sounds like your plan is to dismount summer tires (save for next season) and mount winter tires on your DH HP wheels. If correct, I'd be more concerned about potential wheel damage from a repetitive dismount, mount cycle assuming this is a long term plan.

If feasible, I recommend a winter wheel/tire set up. Jack up, remove summer wheel/tire setup, install winter wheel/tire setup. Repetitive mount /dismount / balance cycle will visibly age the wheels much faster.

Yeh, I can appreciate that concern; it's one I've heard reiterated quite a bit. Nonetheless, I've gone multiple seasons just swapping tires to no discernable detriment to my wheels, their condition or performance. That said, over the years, I've used both solutions...really, neither any demonstrably better or worse than the other. Of course, that's just anecdotal...my experience may not be the same for others.

Admittedly, a little more of a PITA lugging around wheel/tires sets when you don't have use of your own garage (least I don't, anymore).

Besides, in Colorado Springs, some seasons it hasn't been necessary to swap at all.
