Dark horse HP winter tire question (275/35/19s-F, 285/35/19s-R)

Hi All, first time poster here.

I spent a few hours reading all the wheel/tire set-up threads here, very interesting but also overwhelming seeing all the different set-ups folks run in the winter. I’m running into the same problem as many—my ideal tire choices simply do not have a high-performance all season tire available. I really don’t want to buy new rims at the moment and want to stay as close to OE handling and size characteristics as possible, as I adore this car. Here’s what I’m currently considering as options are limited:
-Toyo Proxes Sport AS+
—275/35/19 Front
-285/35/19 Rear

This stays within the “3% rule“ for tire diameter at 1.5%, very slightly more sidewall, both keep me in the ideal tire width for the factory HP 10.5”/11” rims.

Two questions for this expert group:
1) Any experience with the Toyo Proxes Sport AS+ tire, as it’s a fairly new upgrade?
2) Any suspension, brake fitment, cruise control, etc. issues going with this size?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts, as the lack of options make it incredibly challenging to find the perfect fit.

Not really what you want to hear but in the long run it would probably be best to get a second set of wheels for less headache with finding tires. If you get snow I'd want all weather tires at minimum vs all seasons, but I couldn't find any 285 all weathers at a glance. Looks like Michelin makes Pilot Sport AS 4 in your sizes and I'd trust them over Toyos. For my HP Dark Horse I ended up getting a square setup of Steeda Tridents 19x10, on sale for $350/each right now, and Bridgestone Blizzak 6 in 275/35/19. They fit nice, close to the struts in the front at full turn but no rubbing from what I could tell. Car seems to handle well and they feel nice and stable on the highway.

Thanks for the reply. I can get both the 275 and 285s I listed above in within 1-3 days at my local tire shop, actually $100 off for a Black Friday sale. I would actually prefer to do the inverse—save the ridiculously sticky Trofeos and put them on a lightweight track rim for track days, and put a high-performance all-season on the gorgeous HP rims (Goodyear Eagles I’m not a fan, and they don’t make the Michelin AS4s, which I’m a huge fan, in the sizes I’m looking for).
I should note that currently in a more southern state that sees maybe one snow a year, but as I’m typing this temps are currently below freezing so I don’t want to damage $700 tires (Stick Trofeos).

Update—so here’s what I went with after much deliberation, FWIW:

I purchased a second set of rims for the winter, found OEM dark horse base model black satin rim package on sale with tire sensors/install kit included. 19x9.5 front, 19x10 rear. Offset is exactly the same in rear as my DH HP rims, and slightly farther in on front wheels. Since my car is black, this should work well and look similar to my old GT350.

For tires, I debated on going smaller, but I landed on 275/35/19s in front, 285/35/19s in rear, Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4s. I trust Michelins to give me the best all-around performance in any weather, and will daily this car. These tires will put me slightly higher at .2 inches both front rear, but are closer in tread width to stock HP Trofeos considering how the Trofeos round in (9.8/10.5 front/rear tread width on stock Trofeos, vs the Michelin‘s 9.3/10.1 tread width in the sizes I listed above). I can deal with that small a tread width difference and just put the stock tires back on in the summer or save for track use. Circumference is well within 3% rule at 1.5% front/1.9% rear, 8-10 revolution difference per mile.

I’ll let ya’ll know how they work once I’ve got them installed next week—cheers!

I always forget how short those 30 aspect ratio tires are. I think you'll be more like 0.4 to 0.5 inches taller. Should be fine, though. It's still within 2%.

Midway you’re 100% correct, I should have been more clear—the tire is .4-.5 inches taller, I was referring to sidewall and ride height. That is .2 inches per tire.

Sincerely appreciate all the replies ya’ll.
Just waiting on base DH rims to come in now, the tires are aready waiting on me at the shop. I’m just hoping I don’t have any fitment, weird cruise control (due to ride height) or odd handling issues (I can’t imagine I would, as I see several people here that have run 275/35/19s or 285/35/19s).
I’ll let ya’ll know how it turns it, thanks again for the inputs!

As requested, here’s a few pics, as well as a side-by-side of the front tires off (305s next to the 275s). I ended up going Michelin 4S All Seasons, 275/35/19s-F, 285/35/19s-R, factory rims. Still some poke as you can see from the pictures, factory HP DH rims definitely are more exposed but because the stock Trofeo’s are rounded, it’s only a very slight actual tread difference. Zero tramlining now, doesn’t throw as many rocks (you can literally see the small cuts in the trofeos if you zoom in, and that’s with only a few hundred miles). For dry roads there’s no beating the Trofeos, I’ll put them back on in the summer. Cheers!

The rule of thumb I was taught for snow tires is: as tall and narrow as possible. Lots of folks here in Maine like Blazacks ( sp ) I like the General Artictrac
