Fifth gear issue 2024 dark horse with tremec

My fifth gear shows neutral on the instrument cluster and I when accelerating in fifth gear it feels off like it has fully engaged into the gear. Has anyone experience this before. I'am shifting from fourth to fifth around 3k rpm.

Take it to the dealer a the least it sounds like the gear sensor is not working correctly. I love my Tremec and mine does not do that.

No issues with mine either; whether I be shifting her nice or thrashing on it, banging gears to the no lift shift.

fifth gear is definitely more "knotchy" in mine, like the synchro is less grabby, but goes in just fine. that trans does seem to shift much better OVER 4k.

So the service advisor got back to me yesterday and said the the issue is an internal sensor within the transmission. Mind you this dark horse only has 5,000 miles, I bought it with 3900 miles she can’t give me an eta just yet. I fear this transmission will never be the same if they take all apart just to change out that sensor. Has anybody dealt with this? Feeling extremely frustrated .

Highly doubtful they need to disassemble the transmission to change a sensor, it'll be fine

Never dealt with it and understand your frustration. Manual transmissions themselves are not overly complicated so you should be fine and hope you will be.

I haven't had any issues like that. Though my rev matching for the longest time didn't work consistently. And after modding my car, my harmonic balancer decided to start walking off the job site. Got a new one, now. Seems to be happy.

Well, you did buy a Ford.

Build quality for Ford and Chevy has dropped noticeably over the last several years. Seems to primarily revolve around half-assed assembly, not the part quality or engineering (as it used to be decades ago).

Ain't that the truth. I had to search other states to get my Dark Horse under $70k. I'm probably going to buy another C8 soon. Luckily THAT market seems to have self-corrected.

Not sure where you live but I was looking at the C8 and Troy Chevrolet in Ohio has 10.5k off before you walk in the door. You can place an order and they will do the same.
