So is everyone's coolant turning that yellow brown color? Im wondering about mine now since its no longer that bright yellow color. I just mean about the color turning a bit from an engine issue. Maybe the color alone shouldn't be something to stress about? Im OCD about stuff like this. Anyone have coolant that still bright yellow after many miles like over 10 15k?
Thank you for reading 📚

There is another thread about this on the forum. Yes, over time the coolant does turn darker and its normal. That said, it shouldn't be DARK, and it shouldn't be sudden.

They make test strips to check coolant for proper PH ( acidity or base) and freeze and boil points if you are concerned about the condition of your coolant

Same thing for brake fluid, it will test Ph and water content, above 3% water content is really bad for brake fluid.

You can actually test brake fluid and coolant with a good volt meter too

Yeah its normal for bright yellow coolant to get darker as you put on mileage. I wouldn't worry about it unless you are also losing fluid.

Using undistilled water will turn coolant brown, should you add water to OAT coolant. Always use distilled water. Otherwise, coolant does turn darker over time.

You should be adding Motorcraft prediluted Yellow and nothing else.

This is great info, I have been doing this for decades. The op isn't really concerned about the coolant life, more over concerned it may be contaminated.

Yeah, I can find Motorcraft now, and the $10.00 Prestone Purple stuff I use in my Mopar's. Mopar's OAT concentrate was the same price as their 50/50, $32 bucks, and so I would add distilled water.
