Convertible is just a special case of Mustang. A fully optioned GT is a crappy car if you have 4 kids and only 1 car. A convertible top further limits the desirability if you don't drive around with it down, most of the time. As a second car, I would have no other but a convertible. The obvious things, that apply to most convertibles are not what piss me off about the 2026 Mustang convertible. Add to your list: 1) No drawer/holder for sunglasses. My 2020 Mustang convertible had a drawer right below the open trunk button which in the 2026 is a blank plastic surface. 2) No garage door opener, not at any trim level. 2020 Mustang convertible had installed garage door opener on the visor. 3) No lane centering in a 6 speed convertible at any trim level. The coup with an automatic shift does. The 6 speed has lane assist and cruse control that slows and speeds up with traffic. The only thing missing is software that supports it.

1) The sunglasses drawer can be added if you have some DIY skills... several members even added them to their fastback. 2) as well the visor can be replaced for the garage opener. Plenty of options there as the S550 and S650 share the same visor. 3) Lane centering isn't all it's cracked up to be... it nags you to keep your hands on the wheel... most turn it off.

What do the kids think about a convertible?

She used to drive my 2020 a 10 speed auto. I expect she will drive this one occasionally as well.

I had a 2020 mustang premium convertible ecoboost, MSRP $48.2K. I now have a 2026 mustang GT premium convertible, MSRP $72.6K. I expected it to be better in ever way, including existing comfort items. I would have paid, for the door opener I had not thought about an older mustang part. It's worth looking into, thanks.

On another topics, convertibles are sofa-king fun. Kind of a through back to mid-70s Saturday Night Live. The Ecoboost I traded in defiantly had advantages over a V8 as is less expensive insurance, gas (87 obtain and it averaged 30 mpg +/-). For cursing around on weekends it was fun/fine.

I bet she will. How cool is a dad with a convertible that lends it to her. :like:
The new mustang is a 6 speed, the only experience she has driving a standard was a 2008 on a C6 I bought in 2007. As a teenager she drove it once, I had never been in a car that jerked with a chirp, then hung back with engine drag, then jerked forward, then back, then...., worse and worse. That was the only time she has driven a standard. She says she wants to learn and I am willing to teach her. I have only had the car 10 days, as of this AM. It's my granddaughter who really wants mom to pick her up from school in the new mustang.

yeah I forgot to add I'm in FL so summer is not convertible weather; it's seal the car and crank the a/c so you don't die weather
The "Love Bugs" are showing up here on the west coast (Fort Myers) so the bikes and Mustang are now garage bound until I leave in 3 weeks.

My poor Highlander will have to take the abuse of being covered in bug guts.

I can't wait to see what it looks like after I do the 5.5 hours from here to GA on the way home.

Off-topic and it's 1.5 hour drive but do you have an opinion on the Bradenton area? I was considering moving over there for the races since WPB closed down Moroso. I've also heard it's the most liberal city in the entire state :( TIA preesh.

you should wait until it is broken in at least. I would rent a manual from someone before I had a son or daughter destroy my very expensive car....just sayin.....

Eh he's got money. I sincerely hope there's nobody on Turo dumb enough to rent out a stick-shift knowing full well kids are either going to learn on them and/or beat the holy piss out of them the entire time.

I don't know about that. We wrinklies (and younger ones) mostly learnt to drive manuals, and I've done quite a few licence tests in manuals, I've not seen a gearbox or clutch fail.
The handbrake cable on my Dads car snapped while doing a hill start on my test. Luckily I had learned to heel and toe and managed to pass.
I do believe that the initial lessons on clutch and throttle control should be done off public roads, so the learner can focus just on that.

Yeah I meant from you; it's like four hours from me :) I'm probably remembering it wrong from my days at the Waterford Speedbowl up in CT but at least up there the nights were cool. Do I really want to sit in billion-degree heat in the stands with heat billowing off the cars and track? Probably more of a winter outing :)

There are NO CONS on owning a Vert, you got to really be a vert person first all other issues are minor inconveniences that don;:t matter
