You could do a crate but then by that time the bare bones car costs twice as much
A Termi is looking really good right now. I passed on a green '99 GT when they came out; just didn't have the nuggets to face the payments so it would be a nice gap-fill in my life regarding the body style.

I feel ya ole' fella. I just bought a 2024 GT and that BMS was my first surprise. Had to watch a video from FordTechMakuloco to get me up to speed on it . And I swear the flippn battery terminals were designed by Satan himself. And don't get me started on that plastic ring around the subwoofer. But I sure do enjoy stomp'n on that loud pedal 😁

Has the different exhaust note grown on you, since you came from Windsor 5.0 with the classic sound?

It's different, but I got no complaints. I think for a stock ride it sounds good and it drives great. Do I miss the days of 1 5/8 shorties, off road h pipe, and flowmasters....sure. But that's probably just nostalgia. I'm pretty impressed at how this '24 performs and handles off the showroom floor. I don't have the PP. I do have the Brembos tho.

Does it disconnect the belt, in the same manner the ac compressor disengages, or does it still spin the alternator but the charge is ‘unplugged’ ?

edit: before we get too twisted around the sprocket. Are we saying the faster the wind blows the more difficult it is to spin the wind turbine?

Lol I use that one a lot. At least 50% of my day is allotted to complaining about the lack of manual transmission options for "performance" vehicles in '26.
Sounds like you need to go touch some grass.

I laughed when I read this. When I started my research on the S650s, I did the same thing. Gotta be a 6 speed right! In our Windsor days, the T5s were the way to go and the automatics were slow turds. That's not the case anymore. These 10 speeds are legit. First gear is 4.696 so even with the 3.15 rear gear it moves pretty good. Get Lund Racing to tinker with it, and it's even more gooder 😎

So what the F does this crap all mean you can’t charge your car at home I don’t understand maintenance wise. How does this change things? Can we safely unplugged the battery?

What would happen if the bms module was removed?
It would probably toss all sorts of codes.

What I do know is if for some reason the BMS acts up and does not command for power or does not see the feedback from the alternator, pulling the plug lets the alternator default to something like 75% duty cycle that means it will pump somewhere around 13.7 volts with a decent bit of amperage to the car/battery.

If you are unfamiliar with how the alternator is cycled on and off, pull up the screen that shows you all the engine basics such as water and oil temp, there should be a readout for voltage, watch it as you drive and it will go between something like 12.4 to 14.2, and if you turn the AC, lights or rear defogger on you will see the voltage spike up and stay on

Adjustment Disorder (noun):

An inability or unwillingness to adapt to minor, or major changes to life circumstances, and or significant technological advances

e.g. changing from the "pull tab" to the "pop top" on beer cans, or perhaps from the "button fly" to the "zipper" [a fiendish device with an extreme physiological risk to old timers used to button flies]), or transitioning from "solid stone tires" to "pneumatic rubber" ones on your Mustang..

Should you suspect you might have AD; a consultation (very reasonable rates!). with Dr. Wiley; who will ask a series of questions to assess your symptoms vs the DSM-5 AD Objective Standard is highly advisable.

Consultation sessions require cash in advance (Doc's still trying to get the scratch together for a pair of those Ford Performance Recaro buckets). 😉

Nah, I have a Battery Tender quick connect installed on mine now. Just need to make sure your charger is for AGM batteries. And for the BMS system to recognize the charging, it needs to be installed "downstream" of the sensor on the negative cable. You can still charge it directly to the battery posts, but the BMS won't detect it b/c it's "before" the sensor.

Yes, you can safely disconnect the battery. This is straight out the Owners Manual page 309:

Removing the Battery
1. Apply the parking brake and switch the
ignition off.
2. Switch all electrical equipment off, for
example lights and radio.
3. Wait a minimum of two minutes before
disconnecting the battery.

Note:The engine management system has
a power hold function and remains powered
for a period of time after you switch the
ignition off. This is to allow diagnostic and
adaptive tables to be stored. Disconnecting
the battery without waiting can cause
damage not covered by the vehicle
Warranty.
4. Disconnect and isolate the negative
battery cable terminal.
5. Disconnect and isolate the positive
battery cable terminal.
6. Remove the battery securing clamp.
7. Remove the battery.
If you disconnect or replace the vehicle
battery, you must reset the following
features:
• Window bounce-back. See Window
Bounce-Back (page 105).
• Clock Settings.
• Pre-set radio stations.

Here's the video I used to wrap my head around BMS : FordTechMakuloco

Only applies if you recall opening an oil can with a bottle opener?

Was in reference to ‘load’, your initial point?

The main thing to remember with a BMS equipped car... never attach anything (chargers or add ons) to the negative terminal of the battery... always use the chassis ground provided.

Yeah the 10 speed is incredible and my automatic Z/28 was consistent as hell but I would miss not being able to do tricks. It would equate to more thigh time on a date, and easier to eat, drink etc but still...I'm sure fate will screw with my shoulder or knee hard enough to force me into an auto eventually.
