GT500 is slightly faster from a roll...
Lame try again.
No one walking into a dealership looking to spend 140-150k on a performance cars says I want something slightly faster from a roll but loses in every other metric.
Where do these excuses come from?

How do I put this nicely? You are thinking small potatoes and not of the mindset of someone dropping 150k on a car. After 20 years in the car business no clients buying that type of car care about 60-130 it’s ghetto and juvenile and like I said no ever says give a car that loses on every performance metric- breaking, handling, and acceleration but can eek out on a roll.

I watched at least a half dozen or more at the track last year and they all ran mid/low 11s, that’s the real world real owner numbers.

I don’t car about laps. Turd.

That YT vid is a hero run miracle pass, possibly even some sort of shenanigans
On a track... a downhill section!

Until you roll up to a Z06 on the street and they're too chicken to go
And even if "they" go, next week you show up with 824 crank on only a 93 tune, for a couple hundred. The week after that, you show up with 970 crank (still 93), for another 7 grand (very mild bolt ons).

"Metrics" still not good enough? Week after that, 1216 crank, couple more bolts on and E-85, under 20 grand total. With that kind of giggle power, who cares if it stops or turns at all 😛.

I’m aware of the GT500’s cooling. It was a $100k+ engineering feat with a front-end that was 50% opening. But comparing a factory-integrated SVT cooling package to a DHSC (which by my understanding is basically a dealer-installed blower on a standard cooling stack, but correct me if I'm wrong) is apples-to-oranges.
I'm not quite sure where people are getting the idea that Ford is just dumping a blower on top of a motor and calling it a day. It is the exact same motor setup as the GT500, for better or for worse.

I'm not trying to be prickly, don't get me wrong, but since this car leaked at the beginning of January, for some reason an unreasonably large number of people think Ford is taking the Shelby route. They're not. This is a GT500 V2.

I'll start by saying that the C8 Z06 is an awesome car. Sounds awesome. Amazing chassis. They made something like 150hp more out of their NA 5.5 DOHC than Ford did with their 5.2. Amazing machine at the track. Looks awesome.

We'll forget about the 'imitation Ferrari, no backseat, no manual transmission..." that everyone wants to bring up.

But...I don't think anyone buys a Z06 to be 'fast'. Or any C8 for that matter. Maybe the ZR1.

If you do buy a Z06, you'll get your shit pushed on the street in by anyone with a Mustang and a cheap supercharger.

What do you do with that? $5k in boltons to gain 20hp? Turbo kit that costs as much as a used S650?

You're almost better off buying a base C8 and building/boosting that. But then again the C8 really isn't the platform for a 'fast street car'. You're better off with a C6/C7.

Remember that nobody's stock out there.

i talked to my dealer's GSM and Inventory Manager. neither of them heard anything about any of this pricing. also thinking about it, "model = price" is definitely not a way Ford usually lists pricing, at least from what i have seen

The new ZO6 is a turd.

ZR1 or bust.
What makes the C8 Z06 a turd in your opinion?

I feel the RWD ZR1 C8 is pointless with the existence of the AWD version. I would either go Z06 or ZR1X.

Having said all that, if warranty isn't a concern, I bet a DH SC user could add some cooling and drivetrain upgrades and push 1,000 hp for much cheaper than a GTD, but I can't think of any practical reason to do so.
Excuse the double reply, I'm scrolling through, but you are right. If I remember correctly, there were some people breaking quad digit HP numbers with a pulley and intercooler swap on the S550 GT500.

I still think $145k is an abysmal price point for the track package, and $175k is absurd for what is effectively a re-release special. I can get over $108k, but seriously, this is not a marketable price at all. The targeted age group would just go buy an M2/M3/M4/M5 Competition at this point...
