Ridiculous pricing across the board on an unproven product! No idea of it will hold its value as standard Dark Horses are not! All older Shelby's have actually gone up in price since Ford has dropped the Shelby name. a 2027 Corvette Grand Sport looks like a much better investment! I love Mustangs but that base model should start at $90,000

So it's $30k more expansive than the GT500 5 years ago even though it's bascially the same car with minor upgrades. Sorry Ford but Corvette prices for this are just not it. The Track Pack special edition is nearly as expansive as a ZR1 which is bascially one of the fastest production cars you can buy right now.

Z06 won't ever be "fast" without a $25k turbo kit and likely a built motor
Assuming the DHSC won't be that much faster than a GT500 since it's technically quite the same car, let's look at Lightning Lap Times:
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (2023) 2:38.6
Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 (2020) 2:44.6
The DHSC won't come close to the track performance of the Z06, a 6 second gap is whole other world on a track

Even on the U-Drag test the GT500 can't come close to the Z06. So even in straight line performance it's unlikely the DHSC can hold up to the Z06

LOL how many variants are there now of coyotes with whipples that cost six figures? No thanks, I'll do it on my own for half the price.
The sc is the s650 gt500 it doesnt use a coyote, it has the hand built 5.2 predator engine with forged internals and a way better trans than the 10r80. The engine alone is $30k. You’re not making this spec of a car for much cheaper.

Only thing I would add, is I don't think Predator is "hand" built anymore.

My mistake then. Thank you for correcting me. Out of curiosity, if it has the 5.2, how is the supercharger only bringing it up to 8XX total horsepower?

Wow, what a let down...

Wasn't a big fan of the car to begin with as it's simply an overpriced Shelby GT500 with different badges but a price increase of 50% over the much more sophisticated GT500 is just the greediest thing I've seen in a long time... The GT500 could be bought for $73995 and that already included destination and gas guzzler fees...

Ford is just out of their mind and from my perspective they're killing the 'brand' or the mustang in general. $170000+ for a pathetic Ford Mustang that has the same interior und build quality of regular Ecoboost...
Totally agree, a big letdown. I have a 2024 DarkHorse and love the car, was going to sell it to buy this new DH SC, but not at that price!

To be fair the Ford is a little faster in a straight line other than the launch

You can also tune/pulley/intake/exhaust/ported blower/e85/etc the GT500/DH SC and make way more power than the Z06 pretty easily. You're pretty much stuck with the Z06's power level unless you want to spend some cheddar.

Correct me if I'm wrong again, but doesn't the predator come with forged pistons, forged connecting rods, and a forged-steel cross-plane crank, all engineered to handle massive cylinder pressures? Seems the predator with its additional headroom could operate at 760–800 hp all day long.

I suppose if Ford released the DH SC with 900 hp, it would undermine the $300,000+ GTD.

Another limitation may be that to sell a car as a "production" vehicle (not a race-only crate engine) it has to meet strict EPA/Euro emissions standards, and to keep the catalytic converters from melting Ford has to "de-tune" the engine to stay within thermal safety limits.

Having said all that, if warranty isn't a concern, I bet a DH SC user could add some cooling and drivetrain upgrades and push 1,000 hp for much cheaper than a GTD, but I can't think of any practical reason to do so.

Predator is rated at 760 horsepower and 625 lb.-ft. torque

Yup.

Because thats the current standard lol. The 2023 gt500 made 760 hp with the same powertrain so they raised it a bit with this new iteration. While yes you can make similar power on a gt or 5.0dh with a whipple, the forged pistons in the dh sc with tolerate a lot more power for a longer period of time vs the coyote for example 1k-1200hp.

GT500 will make more power on pump gas than a Whipple Coyote because of the compression ratio and larger displacement.

Also the DCT can handle more power than the 10R80

The new ZO6 is a turd.

ZR1 or bust.
This made me LOL. The C8 Z06 destroyed the 20-22 GT500 in EVERY performance metric there is and now it’s a turd?
Everyone knows the DHSC is a warmed up GT500. We all will be waiting for the showdown and excuses.
FYI I did own a 22 GT500.
