So if my GTPP was $NZ93000, a base SC would be $NZ160,000 - $170,000.
That is an astounding bargain. There's nothing close on power per dollar. An M2 Coupe starts at $NZ154,000.
The TP's seem a bit steep, but I'd have to see the spec.
PS. Found the Track Pack specs, I don't think pricing is too out of line for goodies like that.
The DH SC is still a front-engine pony car carrying significant weight. A 911 GT3 RS has 200 fewer horses but beats higher-powered cars at the Nurburgring because its power-to-weight ratio and active aero allow it to carry 20-30 km/h more speed through corners.

750+ hp generates immense heat. In a 20-minute track session, a "lower power" car like a Z06 or a Lotus Emira will maintain consistent lap times, while supercharged V8s can eventually pull timing to prevent overheating.

Modern performance isn't about how much fuel you can burn, it's about how much power the tires can actually transmit to the asphalt. Cars like the M2 CS use sophisticated differentials and suspension geometry to out-accelerate much more powerful cars out of corners.

So while the DH SC driver is fighting wheelspin and brake fade due to the extra weight of the supercharger and cooling, the Lotus or BMW driver (who only paid $100K USD) is using smarter engineering to maintain higher average speeds, and the Z06 driver (who only paid $112k USD) can run hot laps all day, whereas the DH SC will likely have to take cool down laps after just two or three flyers due to the massive heat generated by the blower.

Wow, what a let down...

Wasn't a big fan of the car to begin with as it's simply an overpriced Shelby GT500 with different badges but a price increase of 50% over the much more sophisticated GT500 is just the greediest thing I've seen in a long time... The GT500 could be bought for $73995 and that already included destination and gas guzzler fees...

Ford is just out of their mind and from my perspective they're killing the 'brand' or the mustang in general. $170000+ for a pathetic Ford Mustang that has the same interior und build quality of regular Ecoboost...

In other words, you never owned or tracked a '20-'22 GT500.

i could not verify this pricing, true official pricing by Ford has not been released as of yet. maybe it'll come out tomorrow morning, but until it's out, i urge everyone to treat this as speculation
You unable to get it to come up on fmcdealer?

I’m aware of the GT500’s cooling. It was a $100k+ engineering feat with a front-end that was 50% opening. But comparing a factory-integrated SVT cooling package to a DHSC (which by my understanding is basically a dealer-installed blower on a standard cooling stack, but correct me if I'm wrong) is apples-to-oranges.

The physics don’t change: Heat is energy. To keep a 750hp supercharged V8 cool for a 20-minute session, you have to carry massive weight in fluids and heat exchangers. This is exactly why a 911 GT3 or a Z06 will consistently "best" the Mustang on a technical circuit.

The GT500 is a hero, but it proves the point: You’re spending 250hp just to overcome the weight and aero disadvantages of the platform. At $170k NZD, you’re buying "Power-per-Dollar" but you aren't necessarily buying "Speed-per-Dollar" when compared to a mid-engine or purpose-built track car.

My
I would've agreed with you but now that they are tunable you're going to see some fast Z06 cars on the street. I expect to see quite a few when TX2K rolls around later this month.
Z06 won't ever be "fast" without a $25k turbo kit and likely a built motor

DH SC will be "fast" with a ported blower, e85, pulley, etc

I'm only talking about the 500 or the SC and reacting to your statement that "the DH SC will likely have to take cool down laps after just two or three flyers due to the massive heat generated by the blower." Quite simply, no, it won't.

Base is high but similar to Raptor R… am not sure who those launch edition prices are for, other than I know not me 😆

My thoughts? For that kind of money Id rather buy a 911.
I feel like Ford either needs to bring the prices back down, or elevate the mustang to be worthy of the prices they're commanding. Because while I love a lot of things about the s650, what Ford is doing isn't giving me the fizz. The s650 is a solid car, but it looks and drives like an s550 that was half the price when it launched.

If I'm gonna be expected to pay 50-60 grand for a gt, and over 100k for something like a dark horse SC, that mustang better be the best looking muscle car I've ever seen, with a more visceral driving experience. Like I want the best looking version of a 1960s fastback, something that's very much a muscle car, but evolved to be the most exotic and seductive version of a muscle car design that it can be at that price point.

That's the kind of car s750 needs to be. Something that makes all of us say "Holy shit the mustang is back and it's back with a vengeance".

not really even sure what to search, but looking up "dark horse" doesn't bring up anything about the SC at all. there's also still no workshop manual, wiring diagrams, or parts lists anywhere for anything SC related

It'd be nice if they'd show at least some of the parts. Have you tried looking at the HVBOM for some of the VIN's that work and running any of those numbers?

yeah, HVBoM has the parts, but there's nothing anywhere else. at least you can select the 5.2 and 7-speed in ecat under vehicle options now, but there's nothing associated with them
