Ah, so you bought it in High Point and I guess you live near there. Try some of the Triangle dealers (Capital, Crossroads) as the market is tighter here and you may do better.

Assuming that you paid close to MSRP + fees and taxes, losing $12K is nothing on that car, you are actually doing pretty good. Seriously.

Sadly, the Dark Horse is a decent car but not something that's in high demand. Although dealers put an additional markup on the MSRP, NOT MANY GOT IT. I watched a Dark Horse at one of Pittsburgh's largest Ford dealer's lot. It sat there long enough for the ADM sticker asking $10K over MSRP fade.
Some people think that car sales are still in the Covid era. I had a 2020 Mustang Bullitt. I sold it back to the dealer during Covid. He gave me what I paid for it and sold it quickly for the original sticker price. It happens, but not today.
Even the C-8 Corvette has run its course. At one time there was a waiting list. Now there are discounts.
If you buy a car today, it's a gamble.
You win some, you (mostly) lose some!

I’ve been in this position twice in the last 10 years. It might work if you trade if the taxes in your State work out. The first time I wanted to sell my 6 month old, dodge charger scat pack. I wound up waiting till the end of the model year and traded it on a heavily discounted challenger. RT. At 8 months it turned out my losses amounted to the equivalent of about a $500 a month lease. Same thing with a 2025 Mustang GT 10 speed. I traded it for a heavily discounted 6 speed in August. It cost about $400 a month. Similar to a lease.

All cars loose value
The tighter cars don't lose as much value.
QotD right there.

I don't know what this means. :frown:
In context, @Ryunker likely meant to type 'all cars lose value', not 'all cars loose value'

Read it a few more times. It will come to you. 🤣😂
bmw drivers... AMIRITE?

DH Premium, HP $78K was the sticker not what I paid - need to clear the debt selling and buying a house it's not imperative but it will help a lot. I'm well aware for first year loss but honestly was surprised at the amount
This kind of life situation can happen to any of us. Honestly, I wouldn't sweat it for buying a house unless you have tragically poor credit, a previous bankruptcy or some mitigating factor that would affect your credit negatively. It's a secured loan, and not as bad as unsecured, revolving debt. But if it's a case of total obligations per month too much for you to afford both, yeah, then the car has to go and you'll need to consider a lower cost vehicle.

If you sell the car 'regardless', expect to take a loss and a not insignificant one. As others have pointed out, Ford is imminently bringing out a new halo Mustang, car interest rates aren't the best, mortgage interest rates aren't great, weather sucks, and the Mustang isn't a high volume sales unit to begin with.

Rather reluctant to say cause it's so embarrassing furthermore people who are buying have no idea why I'm selling so it's not like they are dancing and yelling fire sale - even though it sorta is

Well as someone who is in the market for a mildly used DH, I am just curious myself! I don't want a dealer to make too much money off my sale, trying to triangulate on reasonable offers if I am patient.

Over the last new 3 cars I'd be delighted to only drop $10k a year.
