If this car would have been something new and not just a GT500 re-hash, we'd be having a different conversation

Imagine if it would have been a turbo 5.0/5.2, instead of a supercharger 5.2...

Just read starting msrp from an insider is $110k. Wow. You’re killing me Ford. You’re making me seriously consider the z06 or eRay.
Dark Horse is like $75k, how much did you think all the extra shit would be?

the GT500 was a $80,000 six years ago and we all know what happened to car prices since then

A fully loaded DH is actually $88k.
I figured it would touch $100k base. I just didn’t want to face reality! 😂

Childish and disrespectful? Lol. Thats well past "devils advocate ". Do you need a safe space snowflake? Why do you take other opinions on the internet so personally? People are allowed to disagree. If your going to be so offended on a car forum, maybe you need a break from the internet.
Wow, Am I hitting a nerve here? By the way this isn’t personal therefore I’m not offended. Maybe a little disappointed, but hardly offended. That said, you’re right about a break. Not from the internet nor this forum. But this thread has certainly run its course.

technically, a roots type supercharger is more efficient. takes less power to drive but also makes less power. a twin screw type takes more power to drive, but can also make a lot more power. also Ford probably gets a licensing or royalty fee from the likes of Whipple when they work together and Ford lets them make their own tune. if there was no aftermarket upgrade path, that wouldn't exist
My guess as well. To many challenges trying to get a Whipple car to pass standard testing. They have already done it with the Eaton, so why take on a challenge you don't need to.

Well, that should put 99% of those who don't like it at ease, as it's a non-issue from the gate.

Ford is making smart business and branding decisions as far as price..

make it expensive, gate-keep the dark horse name.
And that’s the direction the company is going.

they don’t want to “sell like hotcakes”… that’s how things get played out and brands get ruined.
They don’t want to build an affordable sports car… not anymore.

All of them
You think? Dark Horse is pretty great IMHO, both the car and the nameplate. I think its great to do a new nameplate vs just recycling the same. From the video, looks like there will still be some heritage throwbacks but also new nameplates. Just let it sink in…Dark Horse SC. Its a great edition to the stable.
I think the car is great in terms of capability and looks (front bumper still looks a little cheap), but many of us are not sold on the name. Time will tell though. Farley alluded to no flagships names in the future, but with the possibility of emission standards being decommissioned significantly by the current administration and Dodge getting ready to shove the Hellcat back in everything, Ford might have to reconsider bringing another obtainable (non GTD) HALO stang into the lineup to keep up with the competition.

Well, you certainly don’t want Ford to lose money or we’ll never see continued evolution for the Mustang. I’ve read cars like this don’t make Ford any money. They just kinda “break even”. They’re obviously subsidized by successful truck and suv sales. I love the new DHSC. I was eagerly awaiting Ford’s announcement to see if I wanted to go C8. Z06 & Eray are at the same price point.

Do they really lose money after re-using some of the stuff they’ve had? I figured they went this route to still produce something awesome, all while trying to recover from some backpedaling other places.

the idea of reusing the S550 chassis was to save money in the first place.

then again agree with @Bikeman315 this thread ran its course.

Yup. The hype would have been off the charts!

If true, then the Mustang as we knew it is dead. Also good luck to Ford selling re-badged products at premium prices. If this was a new and unique product, a high price could be warranted

For the base model? That would be close to 40K more than the 22 GT500. That's just 4 years ago and using the same motor and drivetrain essentially. Then the CFTP would probably be 130K+ which is basically Z06 money. How reliable is this insider? If true, I don't really see these selling as well as the GT350/GT500. How has the regular Dark Horse been selling?
