How would they get around gov't regs, certifying every single rendition etc?
Because Mustang Bespoke would be a separate company. Each car would need to hand built so I'm sure they would be able to bypass most federal regulation for the big boys. If not they would just add the cost to the owners bill.

Of course they can’t. But people have the right to be upset & disappointed when they aren’t going in a direction they like. Such is life
Oh I agree. But it is the tone of the upset and disappointment that bothers me. It's as if Ford really doesn't give a shit and no one there cares about us poor enthusiasts. Do we really need to denigrate the hundreds of hard workers that design and build our cars to express an opinion or make a point. Do we really think these folks don't care?

They give us an 800+ HP factory sports car and all we can do is bitch about a name. It's just childish and disrespectful. As I was taught "it not what you say, it's how you say it".

Accounting for inflation, the 2022 GT500 would range from about 90K to 140K in today's dollars. Just FYI for those curious about pricing. That doesn't mean that Ford won't change it up, but it's likely a good ballpark estimate. I personally wouldn't be surprised if the fully loaded cars are a bit more though, considering the carbon ceramics and some extra bits that the GT500 didn't have.

I think the back and forth about bashing or not is a little out of hand. Are there some people with unrealistic expectations in this thread? Sure, but I think most of the "disappointment" comes from the fact that there isn't a whole lot new here--it's a GT500 with a new name. But anyone with any sense should've expected exactly that.

Of course, there's also people complaining about the name, but I don't think most of those complaining about the name wouldn't let that stop them from buying one of they had the means and/or desire. I personally think Dark Horse is a dumb name, but it is what it is. It wouldn't stop me from buying the car. People can have "criticisms" and opinions, but it doesn't mean that they're denigrating the employees of Ford Motor Company.

Agreed. This happens for every new Mustang model. I mentioned this at the very beginning of this thread. Expectations. Many have set theirs way too high. And when they don't get what they hoped for they're disappointed. Totally understood.

But that fervor lessens over time. The 1st gen S550, the '18 refresh (the front is so ugly), The GT350 (yes, many folks had issues with what is now an iconic car). The parts bin cars (The Bullitt and Mach 1). The GT500 (OMG, no manual). And, of course now the S650 and the Dark Horse. This too, will pass. Just wait until Ford drops the manual and the V8. It will happen, eventually. It has too. Can you see the comments then?

I agree with that. I just haven’t seen too much of the denigration. Though there has been some. I myself need to forgive the teal package person in marketing because I haven’t gotten over that yet 🤣

maybe a dumb question, has it been possible in past track pack options to not get the Recaros? Between lack of heated / cooling seats and just general comfort, I wouldn't want them 😅
if the regular Dark Horse is anything to go by, you can just buy the normal seats and swap them in. mostly plug and play. then sell the recaro seats

There hasn’t been much if any trolling at all in this thread in my opinion. Complaining about any new product is normal. If the complaints are higher than expected, maybe the product isn’t hitting the mark…

You trust their judgment, I won’t try to dissuade you from that. But myself and many others question it.

With a teal accent package how could you not?🤣 no company is perfect. As much as I love them Ford makes many mistakes. Fans sharing feedback both positive and negative is how they improve.

It’s silly to try to police complaints. Just like it would be if someone were trying to police the praise.
It's unproductive to complain for complaints sake, which most do just to be heard. Same goes for all the speculation that happens right up until the announcements are made. But hey, it's what we live for and it keeps us going (the speculation part not the complaining part.)

I find it ironic when people say Ford needs to consider things like heritage when planning the future but when Ford actually does that people yet again complain about it. Not saying that you are one of them but you should realize that the "teal" accent package is actually a throwback to the Grabber Green Boss 429. I haven't seen the color in person but it seems to be pretty nice. Although I would probably take it a step further and have the whole car in that color, if I had the option.

I absolutely agree, "Fans sharing feedback both positive and negative is how they improve." But when it's tilted too far one way or the other then it's not really feedback. No doubt, Ford has its fair share of mistakes and they do need to be called out on them. That said, they are trying to do right by its customers in so much that they can. We need to stop being so narrow minded about that. Seriously, if you are selling two vehicles and 90% of your customers want one of them what would you do as a business? Seems painfully obvious to me.

So, when Farly said what he did about off roading being where the priorities lie, we shouldn't be surprised by that. Mustang is mostly a passion project now. Thank goodness Farley (and Bill) is passionate about it because Ford really doesn't need it. Should that day ever come, then I will complain!

We agree on the complaining stuff we just have a different assessment of this thread. That’s okay, I’d rather pick your brain on the other topics.

If the teal accent is a throwback then that’s cool and makes it more relevant in my eyes. It’s still ugly but that’s only in my eyes and looks are subjective. I would just call it poor execution because the car shares nothing in common with the BOSS’s and Farley says they’re focusing on the future, so it’s hard to draw that connection.

Even though this car isn’t for me, I’m glad it exists because I know there could come a time when mustangs won’t. But I can’t give Farley too much praise when he is implying the GTD is a corvette competitor. We all know that is not the case. Not in sales or performance when you go to equally priced Vette. He’s being disingenuous here and that kills his credibility.

If ford truly is only keeping the Mustang around as a passion project and therefore we should expect little advancement on the platform, let us know. And if that is the case then don’t spend another dime on GTD and invest what little dollars Mustang is allocated into the models people can get.
