Go ahead and watch this. Farley just said “no, we live in the future” in reference to seeing a Cobra or Boss down the line.

What a let down. It makes zero sense to walk away from what made the Mustang so iconic and famous to begin with.
I hope the whine isn’t that bad live. Almost sounds like 9k @ 45mph

We'll see it's 'Ring time first. I bet it won't crack 7 mins.
Ring times are important as a measure, but there are many other reasons to compare the two. Unfortunately Ford chose to use the same engine and largely the same interior. This new DHSC is even going to weigh the same even after all of the things Multimatic did to the GTD with carbon everywhere they still ended up at 4,400 lbs.

The GTD and the DHSC are not comparable at any level. Only the idiots on a Mustang forum would even mention it. :giggle::like:

You beat me to this. The second I saw it, I immediately thought "Wow, they're really leaning into the Camaro design comparisons even more..."

I said it here first, FORD can have no future if they are stuck in the past. A visit from the past now and then would be nice but it just wouldn't work with the new direction they are taking the nameplate. Dark Horse is here to stay just like I am and always have. For those that complain or flee so be it. You just don't get it and won't be missed.
I can't say I care as much about the naming as I care about the product. However, you can make heritage blend with the modern era if you work with it. That way you don't alienate any one group of potential customer, and you satisfy the loyalists. Throwing it away and starting fresh is two steps back one forward.

My choice, I wanted to see a Boss 329 or a Mustang GT3 w/ a 5.4 that Ford actually races with. It really goes back to win on Sunday sell on Monday. Selling what you race makes the connection otherwise it's BS marketing and enthusiasts can smell it. The 5.2 is a great engine but they don't race with it in a Mustang.

Sorry, Ford cheaped out with the GTD. Total money grab with the interior and engine. There are many similar attributes that have direct comparison. Only an idiot with blind loyalty couldn't see it.

Would you take the 5.4 with no warranty? Seriously you do not put a race engine in a car warrantied for 50k miles. You also are not going to eat the cost to get a race engine 50 state emissions certified.

So Farley still has no clue what he's doing who would've guessed. Car doesn't look bad but the 5.2 is overplayed at this point and no manual for a supposed track car is stupid. It's just a reskinned Gt500 just without the Shelby name.

180 posts and this is the best you can do. Whine? :cwl::crackup:
Sounds more laser beam than drums of thunder. I mean wha cha want yea or nea? Dark horse has potential of becoming it’s own branch or should it use a heritage / third party name? Lose/lose either way, so take the hit and start a new line?

Ford is quite large. They could offer a slightly detuned 5.4 but otherwise performance parts in the engine that closely approximates what they race with and offer it with a full warranty. If they say the DHSC is a Ford Racing product, maybe they should offer what they race as best they can, in a street version w/ a warranty. Sounds much more pure and honest to me.

Waiting on the cost and weight to really see, we all know the hp will be there with this thing. Kinda disappointed with no manual option but the DTC is really fun on track, it's just really boring on the street IMO. Maybe the manual DH with a whipple bolted on is the way to go for me but without all the gt500 cooling I don't know how she'll hold up and I prefer to buy and track these days vs wrenching on my track car. The maybe $30k difference pays for a lot of track time though.

I wonder if the side-loading on the 5.4 is out of range for what they would want to warranty, or if it uses a non-production block, or....

And realistically how much HP are they going to get out of a 5.4 vs a 5.2 or 5.0? It's about 4% more displacement, so take the Dark Horse engine at ~ 500hp and add 8% more power to that, 40hp? 75 if they really want to push it? Meh.

And they just announced that N/A 5.4 will be going in their new hypercar to compete at LeMans too

A N/A 5.4L manual with the cooling and suspension of the DH SC (including the subframe to save weight) with unique styling and making like 575 hp would be glorious

Even if Ford did something dumb and named it the DH LM I’d still prob be a buyer 🤣
