I‘ve had my Dark Horse with the handling package for only a couple of months. With the cold temperatures, the rain and the snow here in Pennsylvania, the break-in process has been going slowly and I’ve only been able to put in ~350 miles. So far. in the few times I’ve taken it out, i’ve been gentle, keeping the RPMs below 4000, but still driving reasonably at the pace of traffic. But still, I‘ve found myself tailed by aggressive drivers who come right up to my rear bumper, almost bumping me, even when there is nowhere to go because of traffic. One time, after tailing me bumper to bumper, a Ford F-250 passed me aggressively on the right. Another time, a Volkswagen SUV that was also following me bumper to bumper went into the oncoming lane to pass me and the two cars in front of me while we were at a red light. On another occasion, another SUV pulled the same stuff, after following me aggressively, he gunned his engine and switched lanes to pass me on the right after I had signaled that I was merging into the right lane, almost causing a collision.. But it hasn’t been all negative. Several times I’ve gotten thumbs up and “nice car dude”, but in the few times I’ve taken it out, I‘ve definitely gotten some hostile vibes. Have any other Dark Horse owners out there gotten similar vibes?
I've lived in PA for about 35 years in total... personally I've found that a lot of the drivers in the northeast in general are pretty damn horrible lol. The problem stems from the northeast being way, wayyyyyy too crowded - which brings out the insanity in people. I moved to Nevada, way wayyyy less crowded, people are friendly, no one bothers you, people are happier, its common to see Lambo's & Ferrari's driving around in December and no one cares or bothers you because you're driving a sports car. When you cram people in together you get a lot of anger problems - it's no different than animals.

I don’t know that I’d call it road rage, but it’s common that when I’m driving there’s a car right on my ass. All different cars or trucks. My DH is handling package, but judging from this thread I don’t know that it matters. I have two pickup trucks I drive one or the other every day of the week and seldom am I tailgated and I don’t tailgate and I’m usually exceeding the speed limit by 5 mph or so — I probably won’t be the guy in anybody’s way. The car seems to bring it. Maybe they are wanting a look or maybe they have an attitude toward it IDK. It’s annoying though. If a deer runs out and I clobber the brake pedal the jackass behind me won’t have DH brakes and would run into the back of me. Mostly I’m by myself in my car but when my wife is with me she always notices and mentions it without me bringing it up so I know it’s not me. I get a lot of thumbs up too though.

Papo, get out of the left lane.

Problem solved. :like:

Stated simply, stay out of the left lane, unless you are actively passing somebody to the right.

Drive to the right. Pass to the left.

I know you will be tempted to post excuses for each of these two situations I quoted, but if they could pass you on the right, then you should have already been to the right.

Pay attention to the availability of a lane to the right and pay attention to cars approaching from the rear. Don't just drive obliviously staring out the front of your windshield until a car behind you can finally get your attention.

Then observe how these road rage situations simply evaporate.

You are causing them, not your choice of car.

Truth right here ^^^^....also clogs up traffic and you can't get separation and then increases chances of accidents and road rage...

Spot on with every point. This post makes the case better than I did, and it should be required reading for every person in the country before they're allowed to get a driver's license. :)

Whenever possible I'll gap a tailgater and put a car or two between us. I never brake check people. that's asking for a real shitfight. If I can't get away from them, I increase the distance to the car in front of me.
PS. Do they have tailgaters in Florida? They seem to have every other 'gater. It's like northern Aussie.

Yeah! Pretty much what everyone else said. It really is a combo of all the reasons mentioned. It is hilarious how SUVs want to mess with us. Some actually may be fast but few can handle the way the Mustang does. Usually, I just ignore the ignorant unless they get stupid and then... Glenn

Yes to what Junkyard Dog said! If you've been driving in the left lane during your break-in period and aren't passing people, don't do it in the left lane. Nobody knows you are breaking in your car, but they certainly know you aren't passing cars you should be. Glenn

Same experience in Allentown area. Driving in the Northeast is not for the faint of heart. Left lane riders, tailgating and Trucks driving like it's the Daytona 500. Also, every kid with a fart Can muffler who wants to race. I just ignore them and let them pass.

I am in Texas. I find that nobody messes with me in my Grabber Blue GT. I had 4 Corvettes over the years and had my share of lifted pickup Red State types mess with me and of course I engaged - young and stupid. Then I got my dream car. A new Porsche 911 in 2021. The toothless morons went absolutely nuts. It was almost guaranteed that every shitbox on the road wanted F with me. I sold it because I could no longer bend my bad knees enough to get in and out. It was bucket list item that got checked off. Curiously, nobody ever hassled me in my Challenger Scat Pack 392.

Also in Texas. Just stay out of Austin, Houston, San Antonio, DFW to avoid the toothless morons.

That car lift is quite nifty. I've got a neighbor a few houses down who has something similar, but his is huge and it just looked like it took up way too much space. Your picture makes it look like the lift is pretty space economical.

I had people mess with me more, in the same town and part of the country, on highways when I had a C5 Z06. I learned that most of the morons just wanted to see me take off w/o or do a burnout if at a stop at my risk and expense considering hardly anyone gave any signs of wanting to race. Racing on a public road is something I won't be drawn into. I also don't think the average aggressive moron knows a darkhorse from a GT. Like stated above, stay in the right lanes and don't take the bait.

The ceiling was less than 10 feet. All gone now only the Mustang is left. It is a 6 speed with exhaust option. I can barely get out of it though. 76 with severe knee issues and lots of other grim stuff. I should have kept the Scat Pack since it was big and easy to get in/out and an automatic. Clutch leg has a knee replacement that is failing. Worse than that I can barely ride a motorcycle these days
